Fun Trivia: P : Punk Rock

Special Sub-Topic: So You Think You Know PUNK!

Start off easy. The Clash album where the cover picture has Paul Simonon is about to smash his bass onstage is called

London Calling. The others are album names I have made up. Unlucky if you choose one of them. The photo on the cover, shot by Pennie Smith on The Clash's "Clash Take The Fifth" tour, was voted by "Q" magazine the best rock'n'roll photograph of all time (Though there was a rather good photograph of Kurt Cobain which I thought was slightly better).

Skid Row covered the Sex Pistols' song "Holidays in the Sun".
    t.

Name the drummer from The Offspring.
Ron Welty. The Offspring is due to release their sixth studio album in early 2003. And upon hearing the single "Defy You" from the album, I can honestly say that it is a return to power. Back to glory days of "Ignition", I hope.

Which politcal punk band have albums inculding "Less Talk, More Rock" and "How to Clean Everything"?
Propaghandi. Propaghandi is quite simply are an amazing band. I was lucky enough to see them live in 2001 when they came to Britain, 8 years after releasing their first album "How to Clean Everything". And, WOW, they blew me away. Talk about energy, I tell you.

True or false: Green Day's album "Nimrod" has a track called "Walking Alone" on it.
    t. Green Day is the United States' most popular punk band. And with tracks such as "The Grouch", "Minority", " Nice Guys Finish Last", and "Warning", you can see why. My personal favourite is "Good Riddance" because you can feel the emotion; it is a true song about Billie-Joe's girlfirend who moved to another country.

If you have a band who has "No Control" and believe in "The Process of Belief", what would they be called?
Bad Religion. Bad Religion is quite simply one of the best punk bands of the moment. A perfect mix of politcal ideas mixed together with punk beats with great guitar work.

On Blink 182's album "Enema of the State", which track features the lyrics "need a girl that I can train"?
Dumpweed. Blink 182 has had a drummer reshuffle. On the first two albums they had the very excellent Scott Raynor playing the Toms, but he quit after the bad results "Dude Ranch" recievied. Travis is still very good, though I think not quite as good. But, hey, that's just me.

Which band sings the lyric "If the kids are united they will never be divided"?
Sham 69. From the song "If the Kids are United", a very popular song back in its day. Sham 69 is a very much an underrated punk band due to the sucess of the other punk bands in its time, but they are still quite a treat to listen to.

Who produced the albums "For those about to Rock" and "Ball Breaker"?
AC/DC. AC/DC is quite simply the best band which have mixed punk and rock'n'roll together. What comes out of this beautiful mix is something that just makes you wanna get up and jump around screaming the lyrics at the top of your voice. If you haven't expericined this yet go down to your local music shop and buy their album "Back In Black". Then you will understand all.

Finish off easy. Name the band who had hits with such songs as "The Eton Rifles" and "Town Called Malice".
The Jam. Paul Weller (the lead singer of The Jam) has just released his new solo album. Perhaps a good Christmas present for an old retiring punker? Who knows.
