    Copernicus. Copernicus moved to Frauenberg in 1512, where he died.

On May 20, 1588, the Spanish Armada set out, intent on the invasion of England. Where did the Armada sail from?
    Lisbon. Philip II of Spain conquered Portugal in 1580. Spain's occupation of Portugal lasted until 1640, so at the time of the Armada, Spain used Lisbon as one of its main ports.

Karl Marx was born on May 5, 1818 in Prussia. Who did Marx collaborate with to produce 'The Communist Manifesto'?
    Friedrich Engels. Marx was a revolutionary, sociologist, historian and economist. 'The Communist Manifesto' became the most celebrated pamphlet in the history of the socialist movement.

What event took place on May 13, 1917, that has affected millions throughout the Roman Catholic world?
    The Virgin Mary appeared in Fatima, Portugal. Three little shepherd children saw the apparitions. Francisco, his younger sister Jacinta and cousin Lucia, their experiences led to the formation of a place of pilgrimage, visited by millions.

The German Airship, the Hindenburg crashed while attempting a mooring, on May 6, 1937. Where did this disaster take place?

    It was V.E. Day, victory in Europe. The British and U.S. governments declared May 8 as V.E. Day. The full unconditional surrender took place at one minute past midnight.

Which State was formed on May 14, 1948?
    Israel. When the British mandate over Palestine expired, the state of Israel was formed with David Ben Gurion as the first prime minister.

What immovable object finally succumbed to the proverbial irresistable force on May 29, 1953?
    The summit of Mount Everest was reached for the first time. Edmund Percival Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first to reach the summit.
