Where is Basque Country located?

    In France and Spain. The Basques do not have a country of their own, however this area is generally known as Basque Country. The greater part is in NW Spain.

How many provinces are in Basque Country?
    7. Bizkaia, Alava, Gipuzkoa, Nafarroa, Lapurdi, Nafarroa Beherea, and Araba.

'Euskaldunak' is the Basque term for what?
    Basque speakers. This is the term used to describe all true Basques.

'Euskara' is the Basque term for what?
    The Basque language. An isolated language, unlike any other in existence. There are countless theories on how this is possible but no one knows for sure.

You are walking down a street in Vitoria (the Basque capital) and you hear a man say to a woman, "Maite zaitut." What did he just tell her?
    "I love you.". In a perfect world, saying "I love you" would be followed by a proposal but that's just my opinion.

A person who is born in Basque Country is automatically considered a Basque, and anyone not born in Basque Country will not be considered truly Basque.
    f. It is possible for someone to be Japanese and be Basque as long as they speak the language. A person born in Basque Country that does not speak the language is not considered wholly Basque. See note on Question 3.

The Basque language is similar to what other language?
    None. There are some weak links to the Georgian language, which suggests that the Basques may originally from the Caucusus mountains.

The symbol for Basque Country is a what?
    An oak tree. The Basque cross (not a Christian cross) is also called the 'lauburu', which means 'four heads'.

Which political party is most popular?
    Nationalist. The ETA (Euskadi Ta Askatasuna) of the Separatist party receives far more press coverage though. The ETA is a terrorist group that is responsible for at least 800 deaths since the late 1960's.

An easy one for you - 'Pays Basque' and 'Pais Vasco' refer to what? (Look at the hint!!!)
    Basque Country. Beautiful country, with very green, rolling hills. I gave you the French and Spanish terms, since Basque country is part of France and Spain.
