    "Music in the Night". In the first two novels, we believe that Laura and her boyfriend Robert are killed in a sailing accident. In "Unfinished Symphony" we learn the truth, and in "Music of the Night" we hear the story from Laura's point of view.

Who was Melody's best friend in West Virginia?
    Alice. Alice was the friend who sent her the catalog with Haille's picture in it. Haille was thought to have been killed in a car accident, but she was really in Hollywood trying to become an actress or model.

What was the name of the statue Melody modeled for?
    Neptune's Daughter. Melody posed nude while Kenneth carved the statue. She found later that the face of the statue more closely resembled her mother Haille.

What is May's handicap?
    Deafness. Melody quickly learns sign language when she arrives in Provincetown so that she can communicate with her younger cousin May.

Why can't Kenneth and Haille be together?
    They are brother and sister. Haille grew up with Olivia and Samuel, with Chester and Jacob as her brothers. It is later found out that Judge Childs is Haille's biological father, so that makes Kenneth her half-brother.

Who does Kenneth eventually marry?
    Holly. Holly is Kenneth's girlfriend from New York. Holly and her friend Billy own a New Age store there and teach Melody a lot about life and being happy.

What is the sex of the stillborn baby Belinda gives birth to as a teenager?
    Boy. Belinda gives birth in the middle of the night to a stillborn baby boy. She had been hiding her pregnancy, increasing the shock for everyone. Her father buries the child in the backyard and is haunted by its cries for years.

True or false: Winston Gordon is Olivia's biological father.
    f. She grows up believing he is, but her mother tells Olivia on her deathbed that her real father was a sailor. Winston had agreed to raise Olivia as his own child.

When Laura was in the mental hospital, where was she told that no one ever came back from?
    Upstairs. Megan is taken upstairs and never returns. Eventually, Laura is taken upstairs as well.

What was Chester's profession in Sewell, West Virginia?
    Coal Miner. Haille and Chester raised Melody in a trailer park here after having "disgraced themselves" in Provincetown. After Chester is killed in an accident, Melody finds out that he wasn't her biological father and that he and Haille grew up as siblings but were really cousins, and that her biological father was Teddy Jackson. Confusing, huh?
