Special Sub-Topic: Through the Years with Jake and Vicky- Pt. I

Where did Jake and Vicky grow up?

Lassiter, Pennsylvania. Jake and Vicky grew up in the poor mining town of Lassiter. Best friends at an early age, they dreamed of leaving their small town and finding their fortunes.

What was the name of Vicky's twin?
Marley. Vicky discovered she had a rich twin in Bay City, and she and Jake headed over to Bay City in 1985 so Vicky could nab her share of the fortune. Vicky and Marley were initially played by Ellen Wheeler, who won an Emmy for her work. Tom Eplin originated the role of Jake and played him until the end of the show.

Learning that she had a twin was a shock to Marley, but her sister Donna Love had an even bigger secret. What was it?
Donna was actually her and Vicky's mother. Donna had gotten pregnant as a teenager. Her father, Reginald Love, kept her hidden from everyone. After giving birth, Reginald sent Vicky away with Bridget Connell to be raised in Lassiter, and Marley was passed off as Reginald's daughter and Donna's sister. Donna was drugged during the delivery, so although she always knew the truth about Marley, she never knew of Vicky until she showed up in Bay City.

Jake and Marley eventually got married and left town.
true. Jake ended up falling for Marley, even though he and Vicky had been together when they arrived in Bay City. To Jake, Marley was the good, kind twin, while Vicky was wild and impetuous. They married in 1986 and left Bay City. Interestingly enough, Tom Eplin and Ellen Wheeler also got married, although their marriage only lasted a few years.

In 1989, Vicky gave birth to a son, Steven. Who was Steven's father?
Jamie Frame. Vicky was pursuing Jamie Frame, but had also secretly slept with Jake, who was back in town and having problems with Marley. When she got pregnant, she wasn't sure who the father was. Jake found out he was sterile, so that solved that problem as far as Vicky was concerned. She and Jamie got married. However, after Steven was born, Jake found out there had been a mistake and Marley was the one who was sterile, not him. A paternity test proved Jamie was indeed the father, but the damage was done and Vicky and Jamie, as well as Jake and Marley, divorced. The roles of Vicky and Marley were at that time played by Anne Heche, who also won an Emmy for her work.

In 1990, Jake was shot and went into a coma. Marley went on trial for the crime, but was acquitted. Who was the real shooter?
Paulina Cory. Marley was the prime suspect because Jake had raped her when she refused to re-marry him. Paulina, however, was the real culprit. She shot Jake because she had been posing as a Cory, and Jake had found evidence that proved she wasn't a real Cory. After emerging from his coma, Jake blackmailed Paulina into marrying him so he would keep quiet about her being the trigger-woman, as well as to get his hands on Paulina's inheritance, since she was finally proved to be a true Cory. Interesting fact: all the other women listed were also suspects. Donna had had a one-night stand with Jake, and he was blackmailing her about it. Vicky, who was the first one to find Jake after he was shot, had just learned about the rape and was understandably mad at him. Iris had been the one to hire Jake to prove Paulina wasn't a Cory, and wasn't happy with him when she found out he slept with Paulina.

After her divorce from Jamie, Vicky fell in love with Ryan Harrison, a cop. However, he was not her next husband. Who was?
Grant Harrison. Although Vicky loved Ryan, she was drawn to his brother Grant, a politician. She loved the exciting and glamorous life that Grant appeared to offer her, so she married him in 1993. Vicky was now being played by Jensen Buchanan, who would continue to play Vicky until the end of the show.

Jake and Paulina eventually got divorced, then remarried for love in 1994. Vicky left them a surprise in the backseat of their car. What was it?
her son, Kirkland. Vicky soon realized that Grant was not the man she thought he was and divorced him. Terrified that Grant would take their newborn son away from her, Vicky had run away from Bay City for a few months, and came back with a pretty elaborate baby-switch scheme. She passed off a newborn that she had found while visiting Marley in San Francisco as Kirkland, and left her son with Jake and Paulina, having him pose as an abandoned child that she knew they would take care of. However, the scam fell apart, and the babies were returned to their respective parents.

Grant became the next person to get shot in May of 1995. Vicky was on trial when Ryan found the real culprit. Who was it this time?
Grant. Grant had shot himself and set up Vicky to get custody of their son. This would be a recurring theme in Grant and Vicky's relationship; Grant pulling a diabolical stunt to either get sole custody of Kirkland or trying to get rid of Vicky altogether. This time, Ryan was able to prove Grant shot himself, and got him to confess while on the stand. Vicky was cleared and retained custody of Kirkland.

In 1995, Jake was presumed dead after getting mixed up with a loan shark. What special service did Vicky provide at his "funeral"?
she was a pallbearer. Vicky was devastated to lose her best friend. Since there wasn't enough pallbearers, she stepped in to fill the missing spot. In tears, she whispered to the casket for Jake to "save the swing next to yours" in heaven. Nobody knew that Jake was alive and suffering from amnesia. He left town, but eventually got his memory back and came back to Bay City, startling everyone. That's it for Part I. Come back and play Part II!

After Ryan was tragically killed and Paulina chose to stay with her new husband, Joe Carlino, Jake realized that the woman he really loved was Vicky. She wasn't exactly receptive, due to her still mourning for Ryan and the arrival of a mysterious handyman named Bobby Reno, who was fixing her cottage. Bobby was harboring a big secret. What was it?
his real name was Shane and he was on the run. Bobby Reno was an alias Shane Roberts used while hiding out from the authorities. He had been convicted of murder, but was actually innocent. Rather then fight or reveal the real culprit, Shane fled. Jake and Vicky teamed up to find the real killer and clear Shane's name.

It didn't take long for Vicky to realize that she did love Jake and wanted to be with him. They tried to get married in September of 1997, but the wedding was postponed. Why?
Kirkland was hit by a car. Paulina, who was going to be the Matron of Honor, accidently hit Kirkland with her car as she headed over to pick up Vicky and her boys for the wedding. Kirkland was rushed to the hospital, where he had to have surgery and then got a life-threatening infection before he pulled through. Jake was at Vicky's side throughout the whole ordeal.

Jake and Vicky finally got married in November of 1997. Paulina was the Matron of Honor, but who was Jake's best man?
Chris Madison. Chris was Jake's best male friend, so of course Jake chose him to stand up for him. There were a few tense moments during the day. Vicky got stranded on Shane's boat, where she had gone to tell him that they were finished and she was marrying Jake. While she was gone, Marley, who came to town for her sister's wedding, was forced to pretend to be Vicky a few times until Vicky made it back. Then, during the wedding, Shane walked down the aisle and asked Vicky not to marry Jake. She refused and said her I do's to Jake.

A horrible car crash in February of 1998 claimed the lives of Shane and Michael Hudson, Vicky and Marley's father. Shane's vengeful ex-wife, Lila, got Jake arrested for negligible homicide. However, she didn't really want to get Jake in trouble. What was her real goal?
to get Vicky to admit she had been with Shane the night of the accident. Vicky had gone to see Shane the night of the accident. She claimed it was to help him with his research, but everyone knew she went because she wanted to see him. Although tempted, she never slept with Shane. Shane was driving her back to her car when he ran into Michael, who was on his way to stop Vicky from destroying her marriage. Vicky was somehow thrown from the car and uninjured (it's a soap, remember?) while Shane and Michael died. Donna found Vicky and forced her to keep her presence a secret. Lila suspected that Vicky was there, and managed to get Jake arrested, knowing the only way he could be cleared would be for Vicky to tell the truth. She did, saving Jake from jail but nearly destroying her marriage.

Marley came back to town to help her sister in early 1998. Jensen Buchanan orignally played the role, but who eventually took over and played Marley for the rest of the show's run?
Ellen Wheeler. The producers wanted to bring Marley back, but Jensen Buchanan wasn't interested in playing Marley full time. So, they decided to hire Wheeler, who originated the role of Marley. To explain the difference between the identical sisters, Buchanan played Marley briefly while Marley was in the hospital after a car accident. After a fire, Marley's face was badly burned and she needed surgery. Once she emerged from surgery, Wheeler took over with Marley having a new face. Of course, it didn't explain the height difference between the two actresses or the fact Marley went into the hospital with short hair and left with long hair, but again, it's a soap.

Jake and Vicky were finally back together and happy again. This didn't sit well with Marley, who became fixated on Jake and wanted him. Which of these things did Marley NOT do to Jake and Vicky?
pulled the fire alarm when Jake and Vicky were staying at a hotel trying to make a baby. Marley had Cindy speak into a tape recorder to vent her feelings about Grant, but then edited it and played it on Jake and Vicky's answering machine, which made them think Cindy was after Vicky. When Marley found out Jake and Vicky were going to France to try to make a baby, she stopped that with the potato. And finally, when Vicky confronted Marley about trying to take Jake away from her, Marley admitted that Donna had hit Marley with her car, thinking it was Vicky. That car accident was the reason Marley was in the hospital in the first place when she was caught in the face that changed her face. Donna was still angry at Vicky about Shane and Michael, and certainly didn't think twice about mowing down Marley when she thought it was Vicky. The fire alarm was the one thing she didn't do.

Marley ended up kidnapping Vicky and stashing her in Marley's basement. Because of that, Vicky missed a special celebration of hers and Jake's. What was it?
their first wedding anniversay. Marley figured that with Vicky out of the picture, Jake would fall in love with her again. However, not only did that not happen, but Jake soon figured out Marley was behind Vicky's disappearance. He eventually rescued Vicky, but only after she had missed Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family.

Vicky and Grant's rocky relationship finally came to a head one evening in March of 1999 when Grant kidnapped Kirkland and told Vicky he was leaving the country with their son. Desperate to stop him, Vicky hit him over the head with a statue, thinking she had killed him. In truth, she only knocked him out. While lying alone in the room, Grant came to and was confronted by someone else, who ultimately was the one who killed him. Several people confessed, several more were arrested, including Vicky, but only one person went to trial. Who was it?
Paulina. Everyone was gunning for Grant at the time of his death, but Paulina was the one whose confession caused a trial. However, as we have learned, the person on trial is never the guilty party, and this time was no exception. Paulina was covering for her teenage son, Tito, whom she had witnessed killing Grant. Her husband, Joe, got proof that Tito was not her son, that he had been conning her for her money. Paulina then admitted what she had seen. Tito was arrested and Paulina was free.

Here's a question to see if you paid attention. Even though Jake and Vicky were childhood sweethearts and had that fling that could have caused Steven, they never again slept together until they finally got together. After what event did they finally give in to temptation?
their engagement party. They almost made love the night they got engaged, but decided to wait until their wedding night. That lasted until their engagement party. They had the house to themselves, they were both tempted, so they finally gave in and made love for the first time in many years. A very sweet yet steamy moment, in my opinion.

When it was announced that Another World was cancelled, the producers managed to give all the characters a happy ending. What was Jake and Vicky's happy ending?
Vicky became pregnant with twins. Jake and Vicky had been hoping to have a child together, so what better ending then for Vicky not only to get pregnant, but with twins?
