In what year did the Volvo company start building cars?

    1927. The first car was the OV4, also known as "Jakob"

In what year was the 200 series introduced?
    1974. The first released was the 240 in late 1974, the 6 cylinder version following later.

What would you call a Volvo wagon (estate) with a fuel injected V6 motor, and leather trim, built in the early '80s?
    265GLE. And a fine machine it is too!

What would you call a six cylinder luxury saloon built in 1972 with fuel injection?
    164E. The 164E was an elegant, high speed cruiser with a very distinctive frontal appearance.

Volvo released the 340/360 series of cars originally in 1976, after purchasing a large stake in another car company which was in the process of developing that model.
    DAF. The 340/360 is in many ways an unusual Volvo (not surprising since it wasn't originally designed as one!), but has many interesting design features including the rear-mounted gearbox.

The model numbering system for the 1970s and early '80s worked in which way?
    Body series, number of cylinders, number of doors.. Hence 164 is a series 1 six cylinder four door and 245 is series 2 four cylinder 5 door (estate).

    Peugeot, Renault, Volvo. The three manufacturers collaborated on the engine design, versions of the same motor can also be found in the earlier Peugeot 604s and Renault Alpines.

What does Volvo (loosely) mean in Latin?
    I roll. Not surprising given that the name was originally owned by a bearing company!

Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson, the founders of the company, originally worked for a Swedish bearing company. What was the name of that company?
    SKF. As indicated in the previous answer, SKF owned the trademark "Volvo" and generously donated it to the enterprising businessmen.

The 120 series Volvo was also known by which name?
    Amazon. Ostensibly called Amazon in the Nordic countries and by various numbers elsewhere, the Amazon moniker became more common worldwide.

Here's an easy one. What Volvo model did Roger Moore drive in The Saint?
    P1800. The producers initially wanted an E Type Jaguar for the role but they were in very short supply so they "Settled" for a P1800 and never changed it. Roger Moore drove one for many years, even after the show had finished. A man of style, to be sure!

What was the first Front wheel drive model series, released in the late 1980s, called?
    440. Quite a revolution for Volvo.

Who owns the Volvo Car Company?
    Ford. Volvo, along with Jaguar and Aston Martin, was added to Ford's Prestige Auto Group in the mid to late 1990s.

Which Volvo model marked the return of the brand to the British Touring Car Championship in the early 1990s?
    850 Estate. It didn't win the championship, but it certainly got the attention of it's competitors and showed that wagons don't have to be dull and slow.

And now some true or false! The Volvo 242 body was only available in GT specification.
    f. They were also offered as the cheapest model on some markets, equipped with the least powerful motors.

On a 240 series GLE model from the early to mid '80s most of the chrome was painted black instead.

The rare and beautiful 262C was built by an Italian coachbuilder by modifying 264s built in Sweden. What was the name of the Italian coachbuilder?

    PV444. The PV444 was the first production car to be fitted with a laminated windscreen.

What is the fastest car produced by Volvo?
