    2001. Prior to its destruction on September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center was the largest commercial complex in the world, consisting of seven buildings and a shopping concourse. The most prominent of the structures were the 110-story twin towers with floors roughly an acre in size.

The San Francisco 49ers win the Superbowl in January. "Picket Fences" star Ray Walston wins the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Mel Gibson's "Braveheart" is released in theaters. Actress Pamela Anderson marries Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. What year was it?

"The Addams Family", starring Raul Julia and Angelica Huston, hits theaters. In February, the United States and its allies begin a ground war assault on Iraqi troops. What was the year?
    1991. "Full House" ran from 1987 to 1995 and was the anchor of ABC's family oriented Friday night line up. "The Addams Family", based on the 1960's TV show, also starred a young Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams.

Golfer Nancy Lopez win the LPGA tournament. "Dynasty" is the highest rated show on American television. "Amadeus" wins the Academy Award for Best Picture. Mikhail Gorbachev replaces Konstantin Chernenko as Soviet leader. In what year did these things happen?
    1985. Mikhail Gorbachev initiated "glasnost", gently pushing open the gates of reform that would dismantle the Soviet Union and end the cold war. Set in Denver, "Dynasty" was the saga of the Carringtons, a wealthy family in the oil business. The series ran from 1981 to 1989 and spawned a spin-off series called "Dynasty II: The Colbys".

The World Football League plays it's first game as Memphis beats Detroit 34-15. The sci-fi/action series "The Six Million Dollar Man" debuts on television. The Mel Brooks comedy "Young Frankenstein" opens in theaters. Charles Lindbergh dies at the age of 72. What was the year?
    1974. Many aspects of the WFL, such as kickoffs from the 30 yard line and the goal posts being moved to the back of the end zone, have been incorperated into the NFL. Piloting "The Spirit of St. Louis", Charles Lindbergh made the first nonstop, solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927.

    1969. "Happy Days" was based on a segment of "Love American Style". "Midnight Cowboy" went on to become the first X-rated movie to win Best Picture honors at the Academy Awards. Director John Schlesinger and screenwriter Waldo Salt also took home Oscars for the movie.

Arnold Palmer becomes the Masters champion for the second time. "Perry Mason", "Checkmate", "Have Gun, Will Travel", and "Gunsmoke" make up the CBS Saturday night line up.     1960. Named the "Athlete of the Decade" for the 1960's in an Associated Press poll, Arnold Palmer amassed 92 championships of national or international stature by the end of 1993.

Johnny Parsons wins the Indianapolis 500 after it's shortened to 345 miles due to rain. Ethel Waters becomes the first black lead on a TV series in the sitcom "Beulah". The animated short "Rabbit of Seville" with Bugs Bunny premiers in theaters. The comic strip "Peanuts" debuts in 9 newspapers. What year was it?
    1950. The tradition of the Indianapolis 500 winner drinking milk in Victory Lane began in 1936 when Louis Meyer was photographed drinking buttermilk after the race. From that year on, the American Dairy Association made sure the winner of the race received a bottle of milk. "Peanuts" creator Charles Schultz died on November 12, 2000, the day before the final "Peanuts" strip was set to run in newspapers.
