Special Sub-Topic: Where Are We In Skyrim?

Beneath which city would you find the Ragged Flagon, the Ratways, and the centre of operations for Skyrim's Thieves Guild?

Riften. Once feared across the land, the Thieves Guild are now in tatters, barely managing to have Riften in their grasp. As you begin to gain the allegiance of the thieves, their strength begins to grow again, and after completing jobs for some of the thieves, their grasp over the holds of Skyrim once again tightens. Eventually, you can become the leader of the Thieves, which will allow you to receive training in archery, sneaking, lockpicking, and pickpocketing, as well as a healthy supply of radiant quests which offer amounts of gold for completion.

The Greybeards make their home in High Hrothgar, perched atop the largest mountain in Skyrim. But, their leader, Paarthurnax, resides even higher, at the very summit. Where is this?
The Throat of the World. The isolated Greybeards can be found in their temple in High Hrothgar, and they offer help to you, the Dragonborn, by training you in the ways of the dragon. They are able to teach you a couple of shouts, one notable shout being 'Unrelenting Force', which has the ability to push people, creatures and objects with huge force when all three words of the shout are learned. When they teach the 'Clear Skies' shout, you are able to continue up the mountain to the very top, where Paarthurnax, dragon and leader of the Greybeards, awaits. This is also the location of the Time Wound, which can be used to look into the past once the Elder Scroll is in your possession.

Which city is built atop ancient Dwemer ruins, and contains, among other things, the Understone Keep and the Temple of Dibella?
Markarth. The Dwarves, or Dwemer as they are also known, are a long dead race who were technologically far ahead of the rest of Skyrim, building complicated contraptions and unique architectural landmarks deep below the surface. Markarth's Understone Keep provides access to this subterranean complex of corridors and rooms, which also house dormant security systems in the form of Dwarven Spiders and Dwarven Spheres.

Dragons freely roam Skyrim, and at one point, the dragon Odahviing can be captured and interrogated. Where does this happen?
Dragonsreach. Since all dragon names are three syllables long, they can effectively be used as shouts. The 'Call Dragon' shout is learned during the Season Unending quest, where you talk to the Jarl of Whiterun and either begin preparations for Odahviing's capture on the Great Porch, or enter into negotiations with the Stormcloaks for a truce, depending on your progress through the Civil War side-quest. When the trap is ready, the shout is used and Odahviing flies in and becomes ensnared in a yoke. You are then able to get information about Alduin's location from him.

In which dark, dank, Draugr-infested dungeon will you and some of your colleagues from the College of Winterhold find the Eye of Magnus?
Saarthal. Saarthal was once a Nord settlement, and was the very first of these in Skyrim. By participating in the College of Winterhold excursion to investigate the ruins for magical remnants, you can access the depths of Saarthal and discover the secrets that lie within. The mystical Eye of Magnus can be found deep into the excavations, and is guarded by a fierce Draugr named Jyrik Gauldruson. Upon defeating him, Tolfdir, a senior mage, informs you that he will transport the Eye back to the College for further investigation.

If you wish to be inducted into the Bards College, where must you go in Skyrim?
Solitude. Unlike the College of Winterhold which provides training for mages and a lengthy side quest, the Bards College in Solitude offers very little in comparison. In order to be inducted into the College, you must retrieve a long-lost document from a tomb near Morthal and return it to the headmaster, so that he can use it to appeal to the Jarl of Solitude to allow the College's annual Burning of King Olaf festival. After you become a bard, the College doesn't offer much, save for a few miscellaneous quests in which you must retrieve various musical instruments.

The memory of the very first town you entered is distant now, but can you remember where it happened?
Helgen. As a prisoner in Helgen, you are just about to be put to death by decapitation when Alduin flies in and wrecks the town, breathing fire and destroying buildings. In the ensuing chaos, you are able to make your escape and begin a new life in the land of Skyrim. You are able to return to Helgen later in the game, and you may find a group of bandits have set up camp in the ruins of the town.

The Imperial Legion make their home in Solitude, but where do the rebellious Stormcloaks have their base of operations?
Windhelm. During your adventures in Skyrim, you are given the choice of either joining the Imperials or the Stormcloaks. Each faction is at war with the other, and once you have joined one, you cannot join the other, because the associated questlines involve destroying the opposite faction and taking control of their domain. Ulfric Stormcloak, leader of the Stormcloaks, is also the Jarl of Windhelm and was one of the very first people you met when you were being sent to be executed in Helgen.

If you wish to be married, where must you go for the ceremony to be performed?
Temple of Mara. By completing tasks or quests for some men and women throughout Skyrim, they may become available for marriage. In order to marry them, you must wear an Amulet of Mara to show your availabilty. An Amulet can either be randomly found in dungeons or on enemies, but can also be purchased from Maramal in the Temple of Mara in Riften. When you propose, the ceremony takes place in the temple "from dawn until dusk", and afterwards, you are given the option of moving in with your new spouse, or having them move into a house with you.

To enter Sovngarde and defeat the almighty Alduin the World-Eater, where must you go to to find the portal to this hallowed region?
Skuldafn Temple. After gaining the allegiance of Odahviing, he is able to transport you to Skuldafn Temple, where there is a portal to Sovngarde. However, it is not easy to get to, as it is guarded by no less than four dragons, a powerful Dragon Priest, and a horde of strong Draugr. The fight to the portal is difficult, but it must be conquered if Alduin is to be defeated in Sovngarde.
