Fun Trivia: A : Animaniacs

Special Sub-Topic: Yakko's World

What is the first country mentioned in the song?

United States. "United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru; Republic Dominican; Cuba, Caribbean; Greenland; El Salvador too." Yakko was voiced by Rob Paulson. How he sung this song, I'll never know! Lyrics to "Yakko's World" were written by Randy Rogel.

"Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, Honduras, Guyana and _____." What comes next?
still. "Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, Honduras, Guyana and still Guatemala, Bolivia then Argentina and Ecuador, Chile, Brazil;" This song is set to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance. It also has a music video that's quite entertaining! "Yakko's World" is featured on the album of the same name, released by Rhino Records.

"Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Bermuda, Bahamas, Tobago, ___ ____;" What country goes in the blank?
San Juan. "Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Bermuda, Bahamas, Tobago, San Juan; Paraguay, Uruguay, Suriname and French Guiana, Barbados and Guam!" "Yakko's World" is from the second episode of "Animaniacs", and is quite possibly their most famous song. It was the first "Animaniacs" song that was educational.

What country comes after "Finland" but before "(now in one piece)"?
Germany. "Norway and Sweden and Iceland and Finland and Germany (now in one piece); Switzerland, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Italy, Turkey and Greece;" The video starts with a map of the world and an unseen announcer saying "And now, the nations of the world, brought to you by Yakko Warner!" Yakko then appears on the screen. He starts a fast song, naming the nations of the world, (with some irregularities). As he sings the name of a nation, he points to it and it glows. I bet he was taught by Vanna White!

"Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Cyprus, ____ and ____." What goes in the blanks?
Iraq and Iran. "Poland, Roumania, Scotland, Albania, Ireland, Russia, Oman; Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Cyprus, Iraq and Iran." Rob Paulson can sing the entire song without looking at the lyrics! Now THAT is talent! I bet he'll "ace any trivia quiz you bring on" *cough, cough* about the country names!

"There're Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, both ______, Kuwait and Bahrain;" Both what?
Yemens. "There're Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, both Yemens, Kuwait and Bahrain; The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium and Portugal;" "Yakko's World" doesn't actually name ALL the countries. The song was introduced as "nations of the world" for just that reason. And, naturally, countries have been created since then. Keep in mind, this song was released in 1993!

"France, _______, Denmark and Spain." What country goes in the blank?
England. "France, England, Denmark and Spain." The song excludes some countries, including (but not limited to): Grenada, Northern Ireland, South Africa, and Vatican City. Pinky, from "Pinky and the Brain" is also voiced by Rob Paulson!

"India, Pakistan, Burma, ___________, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan;" What country goes in the blank?
Afghanistan. "India, Pakistan, Burma, Afghanistan, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan; Kampuchea; Malaysia; then Bangladesh, Asia; and China; Korea; Japan." In a "Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain" episode, when Brain mentions the United States and Canada, Pinky starts singing "Yakko's World"! In an episode of "Pinky & the Brain", Pinky was asked "What do you know?" He responds with "The lyrics to 'Yakko's World'." Considering the fact that Pinky and Yakko ware both voiced by Paulson, I would hope Pinky knew the lyrics!

"Mongolia, ____ and Tibet, Indonesia, the Philippine Islands, Taiwan;" What country goes in the blank?
Laos. "Mongolia, Laos and Tibet, Indonesia, the Philippine Islands, Taiwan; Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand, then Borneo and Vietnam." In another episode of "Animaniacs", as the Warners are sleeping, Yakko has a nightmare, freaking out over missing a country in the song. This song is referenced so much, it's obvious why it's probably their most famous!

"Tunisia, _______, Uganda, Angola, Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Botswana;" What country goes in the blank?
Morocco. "Tunisia, Morocco, Uganda, Angola, Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Botswana; Mozambique, Zambia, Swaziland, Gambia, Guinea, Algeria, Ghana!" In the "Treehouse of Horror" episode, the Simpsons are in Morocco. Homer recites "What a dump! Why would Princess Grace live in a place like this?" Lisa responds with "Dad, that's Monoco." Now, let's finish the song! "Burundi, Lesotho and Malawi, Togo, the Spanish Sahara is gone; Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Liberia, Egypt, Benin and Gabon. Tanzania, Somalia, Kenya and Mali, Sierra Leone and Algier Dahomey, Namibia, Senegal, Libya, Cameroon, Congo, Zaire Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Rwanda, Mahore and Cayman; Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Yugoslavia -- Crete, Mauritania, Then Transylvania, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Malta and Palestine, Fiji, Australia, Sudan!" Wasn't that fun?!
