"Order of the Phoenix" - Film vs. Book

1. In the book, the Order of the Phoenix advance guard get the Dursleys out of way so they can rescue Harry by sending them a letter telling them they'd won a best-kept lawn competition. How do they get them out of the way in the film? They don't. The Dursleys decide to go on holiday to get away from Harry. They don't. The Dursleys drive Dudley away after the dementor attack. They send the same letter as they do in the book. They turn all the street lamps out so the Dursleys can't see them leaving.

2. In the book, to see the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, Harry reads a note Dumbledore has written with "12 Grimmauld Place" on it. As soon as he reads it, the building springs into view. What happens to make it appear in the film? Mad-Eye Moody bangs his stick on the ground. Everyone gets into a telephone box and dials 62442. It's the same - Mad-Eye Moody passes Dumbledore's note to Harry. Mad-Eye taps a brick in the wall.

3. 12 Grimmauld Place is not a cheery home as Sirius's family were proud of their pure-blood status and it seems to house lots of dark objects and artefacts. What DO we see that's mentioned in the book? Kreacher's den in the kitchen. The portrait of Sirius's mother. The Black family tree. The locket that no-one can open.

4. In the book, Harry, Fred and George receive life-long Quidditch bans from new Defence Against the Dark Arts and High Inquisitor of Hogwarts, Dolores Umbridge. This is because they fight with Malfoy when he insults them after the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin match. How does Harry receive his ban in the film? It was the same - he fought with Malfoy. Umbridge sees him practising Quidditch and states he's breaking one of the new decrees. Umbridge punished him for repeatedly telling everyone that Voldemort was back. What are you talking about, there wasn't a Quidditch match or a ban!

5. "Dumbledore's Army", the secret defence group formed by students, needs somewhere to practise. In the film, we see Neville Longbottom stumble upon the Room of Requirement, but how does Harry find out about it in the book? Hagrid mentions it. Neville finds it when he gets lost on the way to the bathroom. Dobby the house elf tells him about it. Fred and George find it when they're hiding from Filch.

7. Hagrid has been on a mission to recruit the giants before Voldemort does. He is not particularly successful but does find his half-brother, Grawp. He brings Grawp back to live in the Forbidden Forest and asks Harry, Ron and Hermione to look after him in case he is fired by Umbridge. Grawp seems very taken with Hermione, giving her a bike's handlebars complete with bell to ring. What does he give her in the book? Nothing! He's a complete savage! A bird's nest full of eggs. He gives her the same handlebars as in the film. Some tail hairs from a unicorn.

8. Harry has been having visions of the Ministry of Magic and one night sees Sirius being tortured by Voldemort. He doesn't realise this image has been planted in his head to draw him to the ministry so sets off with some friends to rescue Sirius. He retrieves the prophecy Voldemort wants but Lucius Malfoy is there, trying to make Harry hand it over. Luckily, in both the book and the film, the glass ball smashes before Voldemort can hear what the prophecy is. In the book, Neville's legs are flailing around due to a jinx he's been hit with and he kicks it away and it smashes. Who is the butter-fingers who drops it in the film?
