Isabella and Ferdinand decided to unify their kingdoms not only politically, but also culturally. They banned the use of "Galego". For centuries, this language could only be heard from the serfs, and not from their lords.

After Galician culture was suppressed by Spanish nobles, a period of four centuries of obscurity("Os Séculos Escuros") began. We know almost nothing about Galician life and culture during this period.

He died in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1950. His most important book is "Sempre En Galiza". Other important writers from "Grupo Nos" were Ramon Otero Pedrayo and Vicente Risco.
