4. The parable itself begins with a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. What happens to this man? He falls from his horse, is badly injured, and has his possessions stolen later. He is stripped by robbers, badly beaten, and left to die. He has a heart attack. He lays in the ditch on purpose to test the "righteous" people whom he knows are coming down the road.
