Stephen F. Austin was originally a rebel kid. he bankrupted one of his father's companies and ran away from home. Initially, he had no interest in Texas. He changed his mind when he was sent a mail that said "Your father is sick and you won't see him again before he dies". After that, he decided to continue his father's dream of settling Texas.
2. This man was the commander at the mission known as the Alamo. He wrote a famous letter with the words "Victory or death!".

Answer: William B. Travis

Travis chose to not surrender and fought to the death, along with the many, many others that died at the Alamo.
3. This man was the commander-in-chief of the Texas Army during the Texas Revolution. He later became the first president of the republic. Who was it?

Houston served as the first and third president of Texas. He later became a Governor of Texas.

Answer: Susanna Dickinson

Susanna Dickinson is known by many variations of her name. She lost her husband, Captain Almaron Dickinson, at the Battle of the Alamo. After the Alamo, she returned home to Goliad only to be forced to join in the Runaway Scrape. She was part of the group that informed Houston about the Alamo.
9. This man was a colonel at the Battle of San Jacinto. He later went on to become a president of the Republic of Texas.

Answer: Mirabeau Lamar

Lamar became the second president of Texas. He is known for waging a war against Native Americans and being the "Father of Texas Education". Unfortunately, he put Texas heavily in debt.

Answer: Deaf Smith

Erastus "Deaf Smith" was part of many Texas Revolution battles including the Siege of Bexar, the Battle of Concepcion, and the Battle of San Jacinto. When the war finished, he led a group of Texas Rangers.
