Adapted from an Anne Rice novel, "Interview with the Vampire" is an engaging horror film which combines the lethal talent and charm of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. In this epic tale, Cruise plays Lestat, a vampire who has an unquenchable thirst for blood. When he meets a plantation owner (Brad Pitt) who has given up on life, he develops an intense liking. He turns him into a vampire and together, they explore the dark world of vampires.
Cruise and Pitt light up the screen in this Neil Jordan masterpiece. Sharing the screen with these Hollywood hearthrobs are Stephen Rea, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas, Thandie Newton, and Kirsten Dunst.

Eddie Murphy has also played a vampire. The film is "Vampire with Brooklyn", where he shares screen time with the beautiful Angela Bassett. In this comedy, Murphy is cast as a vampire whose lineage is about to face extinction. To remedy this impending doom, he searches for a woman (Bassett) whom he knows is half-vampire.

Answer: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Lies

A sequel to the successful Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" follows the adventures of Harry Potter on his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This time stranger things are happening at the school. Students with muggle blood are attacked and strange voices are heard in the walls of the school. Can Harry Potter solve the mystery once again?
Chris Columbus directs this sequel that brings back the colorful characters of author J.K. Rowling's best selling novel. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters and Maggie Smith once again don their magical cloaks. Kenneth Branagh joins the stellar cast.

A film completely at the opposite spectrum of Columbus's film is "Secrets and Lies". In this beautifully made film, Brenda Blethyn plays an unhappy white, lower-class mother who is aching for a relationship with her family. Her life changes when she meets a successful black woman (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), who turns out to be the daughter whom she gave up in her youth.
The Oscar nominated film from director Mike Leigh boasts of tour-de-force performances from its two lead stars, Blethyn and Jean-Baptiste.

Answer: Falling Down with Love

There is only one thing on William Foster's mind. It is for him to be with his daughter on her birthday. However, consumed with hidden anger from his failures in life, the unemployed and divorced Foster starts to crack when things do not go his way.
Ably directed by Joel Schumacher, "Falling Down" features an outstanding performance from Michael Douglas as William Foster. Barbara Hershey, Robert Duvall, Rachel Ticotin, and Tuesday Weld co-star.

"Down with Love" is a comic love story that pays tribute to the genre popularized by Doris Day and Rock Hudson in the 60s. Here a feminist writer, Barbara Novak (Renee Zelwegger), and a journalist, Catcher Block (Ewan McGregor), go on an all-out battle of the sexes when Catcher blows off Barbara for an interview several times. Not surprisingly, the battle turns into a battle of love between the protagonists.

Answer: Drowning Mona Lisa Smile

No one likes Mona Dearly (Bette Midler). She has a foul mouth and a wicked spirit and everyone in her small town hopes she is dead. When she is found dead from drowning, the local sheriff smells foul play. That is the premise of "Drowning Mona", a comedy from Nick Gomez.
Although the film features hilarious performances from Midler, Danny de Vito, Jaime Lee Curtis, Casey Affleck, Neve Campbell, William Fichtner, Marcus Thomas, and Will Ferrell, the film is almost as hateful as Mona Dearly.

In a conservative exclusive school for girls, a new Arts History teacher (Julia Roberts) comes across a group of girls whose diversity in beliefs and conviction challenges her as a teacher and as a person. She tries to effect positive changes in them, but not without challenges.
"Mona Lisa Smile" gathers a fine cast of actresses - Roberts, Julia Stiles, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kirsten Dunst, Marcia Gay Harden, and Ginnifer Goodwin. However, the film feels too much like "Dead Poets Society" and it pales in comparison.

Answer: Murder in the First Wives Club

Marc Rocco's "Murder in the First" tells the story of Henri Young, a harmless petty thief who is incarcerated in Alcatraz. When he is caught trying to escape, he is thrown into solitary confinement for several years, a punishment that goes well beyond the normal 19 days. The years he spends in confinement take its toll on Young. The events that unfold after his release are powerfully depicted in this film.
Kevin Bacon proves his thespic talent as Henri Young. Supporting the actor are Christian Slater, Gary Oldman, William H. Macy, Kyra Sedgwick, and Embeth Davidtz.

In "The First Wives Club", Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton are three women who are fed up with their adulterous husbands. Together, they exact revenge on them.
Delightful and hilarious, the film boasts of excellent peformances from the three acting legends. Stockard Channing, Maggie Smith, Eileen Heckart, Dan Hedaya, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victor Garber, Stephen Collins, Rob Reiner, and Marcia Gay Harden co-star.

Answer: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Is Forever

Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, and Bai Ling headline "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". A futuristic tale that features robots in New York City circa 1930s, the film is innovative but it fails to totally entertain.
Here Paltrow essays the role of a reporter, who teams up with a pilot (Law), to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of scientists. Complicating their quest are the giant robots who are attacking the city.

"Tomorrow is Forever", an Irving Pichel film, casts Claudette Colbert as a wife who is left grieving when she learns that her husband (Orson Welles) is killed in battle. Twenty years later, Colbert gets the shock of her life when she meets her supposedly dead husband.

Answer: The Hills Have Eyes of Laura Mars

Directed by Alexander Aja, "The Hills Have Eyes" is a remake of Wes Craven's film of the same title. The film follows the nightmare an American family falls deep into, when their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Beyond their knowledge a group of psychotic cannibals are hiding, waiting for their prey.

On the heels of her Oscar triumph, Faye Dunaway stars in "The Eyes of Laura Mars". The actress takes on the role of a fashion photographer who starts seeing through the eyes of a killer. The terrified photographer realizes that she has to catch the killer before he catches her.
Supported by Tommy Lee Jones, Raul Julia, and Brad Dourif, Dunaway fails to make this film worth the admission ticket.

Answer: Dressed to Kill a Priest

The first film is "Dressed to Kill". Directed by Brian de Palma, it casts Nancy Allen as a prostitute who witness a brutal murder. The killer sees her and now she has to run before she too is hacked to pieces. Michael Caine and Angie Dickinson co-star.

The second film is "To Kill a Priest". Director Agnieszka Holland gathers a fine ensemble of actors, which includes Ed Harris, Tim Roth, and Pete Postlewaithe. The year is 1981 and a charismatic priest (Christopher Lambert) in the communist country of Poland goes against an impenetrable system. However, even with the support of the people, he is targeted for elimination. Unfortunately, the film's biggest fault is casting Christopher Lambert in the pivotal role of a priest who is murdered for speaking out against the Communists.

Answer: Meet Joe Black Hawk Down

The first film is "Meet Joe Black", a three hour romance drama which features Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, and Claire Forlani. Directed by Martin Brest, the film imagines what life would be for the Grim Reaper if he is not so grim and lives the life of a human being. In this case, he takes the form of a very handsome man (Pitt) who chooses a millionaire (Hopkins) to be his guide on earth. Not surprisingly, Death falls in love with the millionaire's daughter (Forlani).

The second film is "Black Hawk Down", Ridley Scott's gritty look on a mission gone awry. In October of 1993, 123 American soldiers are sent to Mogadishu, Somalia for a mission. What is supposed to be a simple and safe mission turns into a nightmare when a soldier falls from a helicopter that is avoiding a missile.
Scott's film, which is an unrepentant look on the horrors of war, gathers an ensemble of incredible actors, including Josh Hartnett, Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, Sam Shepard, Orlando Bloom, William Fichtner, Ron Eldard, Ioan Grufudd, and Tom Sizemore.
