Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Adam arrives on Knowhere with the intent to capture who of these?

Answer: Rocket

Somewhere in the galaxy in a cage full of baby raccoons, one is picked from the litter.

Some time in the future, Rocket Raccoon listens to Radiohead's "Creep" playing on Peter Quill's Zune as he walks through a city square on the planet Knowhere, where the Guardians of the Galaxy have established their home base. He comes across Quill in a bar, drinking to the point of unconsciousness, and Nebula has to carry him to bed. The Guardians muse on this; it's not the first time as of late. As Nebula tucks him in, Quill mutters in his drunken state: "I love you, Gamora."

Outside, Kraglin attempts to use Yondu's needle, mockingly getting shown up by Cosmo's telekinesis. The Guardians wander off and attempt to solve Quill's problem-- there's got to be a way to make him happy.

None of them are aware that someone is flying through space, aimed directly at Knowhere...at least not until Rocket prepares to go to bed and said being blasts through his window, sending him hurtling through the city. Rocket gets away, and the other Guardians all attempt to stop him, each failing one-by-one. Drax is able to pull the being away long enough for Mantis to check on Rocket, realizing he needs med-pacs or he won't make it.

Nebula is able to put a brief end to the being while his back is turned, but it's a bit too late.
2. Which of these names is found on all of Rocket's cybernetic parts?

Answer: OrgoCorp

Quill attempts to heal Rocket with the med-pacs but they short circuit on his body, an obvious effect of the metal implants in the raccoon's flesh. Nebula rushes in and tells him to remove the defibrillator-- it's doing more harm than good. They rush him to the med-bay on the ship-- the visitor from space managed to destroy it in the fight. Speaking of which, he seems to have escaped, flying back off Knowhere in a ball of fire.

While unconscious, Rocket has dreams of his sordid past where in he was picked from his litter and implanted with cybernetic enhancements. Locked away amongst Batch 89 he found himself in the company of several other hybrid animals-- an otter, a walrus, and a rabbit. They reassured him he wouldn't be alone as they tended to the experimentation done on his body.

The Guardians, having brought Rocket to the med-bay, find that the cybernetics in his body have a kill-switch, and this accounts for the problematic med-pacs; someone considers him proprietary technology, and the invader came to retrieve him. There's a passkey, fortunately, but there's little to go off since Rocket doesn't discuss his past. Nebula is able, however, to find that every piece in his body is labeled OrgoCorp, and the code 89P13 is stamped upon them. He's got maybe forty-eight hours. It's why Quill and the others start the ship, leaving Kraglin and Cosmo to take care of Knowhere in their absence while they take off to save their friend.

In the Laboratories of Arête, the High Priestess Ayesha tends to her creation, Adam, while the High Evolutionary criticizes his creations. Ayesha believes Adam was taken from his cocoon too early, but the High Evolutionary blames her, instead, for not making him aware of 89P13's existence. He will destroy her civilization, as its maker, if she does not retrieve him. He wants its brain.
3. In order to retrieve the files they seek, the Guardians infiltrate a planetoid made of which type of material?

Answer: Biological

The Guardians arrive at the Orgoscope, the headquarters for OrgoCorp, and find a bio-formed planetoid surrounded by massive security shields. Quill, rattled by the recurring deaths of the people closest to him, blames his drinking for their current predicament. Mantis tries to talk to him about this and his remaining family on Earth, his grandfather, but he's not in the mood for it. As they pass through the first shields, their ship is found and set upon by the United Ravagers and it could be a bigger problem if not for the fact that Gamora-- at least the one from an alternative universe-- is their leader. Nebula notes they have an appointment with her, and that's good enough. As it turns out, she was in contact with Gamora and promised a great deal of cash in exchange for her help.

The Ravagers hand off a pile of red uniforms; the Guardians will need them to pass into the Orgoscope undetected. Gamora's right hand, Stakar Ogord, informs the group that they'll need to pass heavily-armed sentries and be guided inside, but if they're caught, the Ravagers will not be able to bail them out.

The Guardians, Gamora alongside them, launch into space and descend upon the Orgoscope and manage to infiltrate its biological surface with relative ease. Quill tries to speak to Gamora about what they were before, but Gamora lays it out cleanly-- she's not who he knew. He insists that maybe if she opens herself up to the possibility, she might remember something, but that's not how any of it works.

In his dream, Rocket recalls his time with the High Evolutionary. Excelling in his training on in the lab, he comes to discover that the goal in the labs is to create the perfect species, and he is half-way to that achievement. P13 is part of Batch 89, but Batch 90 will overtake that progress-- the High Evolutionary is certain. For some reason, however, there is a violent streak in the new batch.
4. Peter Quill takes on which pseudonym, in an attempt to steal a species tag file from the High Evolutionary's records?

Answer: Patrick Swayze

The Guardians puncture a hole in one of the Orgoscope's decompression chambers and stow away their spacesuits (in a contamination bin, unfortunately), but only in the nick of time as lab guards come upon them. Quill and the others manage to create a good enough cover to keep the guards at bay and then split up to find what they need with Peter, Gamora, and Nebula heading to the records room to find Rocket's file and Mantis and Drax looking for the spaceport so Groot can land and get them off of the planet. Unfortunately, the High Evolutionary has already sent out the alert to the planet, and when the latter pair walk through the planet's main lobby, they're spotted almost instantly.

In the records room, Quill tries to turn on the charm to get the items he needs, but it doesn't seem to work. Instead, Gamora uses force to ask after Rocket's species tag and they get it after a bit of searching, nabbing a file orb and escaping by use of a hostage. They reunite with the others, fight off the guards, and meet up with Groot, but not before Gamora takes violent means, much to Quill's dislike, to get them back to the Bowie. Quill makes it clear that this isn't how the old Gamora would've acted, much to her disinterest, and he has their hostage hack into the sentry system by playing to her emotions, getting them a clear path out of the Orgoscope before everyone can be taken down.

Rocket, meanwhile, continues to sleep through his trauma and relives his past through memory. As his friends in Batch 89 believed that they would be set up for the new world, they named themselves-- Lylla for the otter, Teefs for the walrus, Floor for the rabbit, and Rocket for the raccoon himself because someday he wanted to make flying machines to travel with his friends.
5. The High Evolutionary is situated on a planet that looks remarkably similar to which of these?

Answer: Earth

Rocket's file is nothing short of distressing as the Guardians bear witness to footage of his operation at the hands of the High Evolutionary's doctors. Regrettably, the files do not contain the passcode they need, but there do appear to be large segments of the file deleted as of the day they claimed it, done by one of the High Evolutionary's record keepers. All signs point to the High Evolutionary's coordinates on Counter-Earth, so that's where the Guardians direct themselves next. Gamora says it's a trap and demands to be dropped off with the Ravagers, but she's low priority; Quill tries to talk some sense into her, but it just makes her more angry.

Ayesha and Adam, meanwhile, arrive at the Orgoscope to find a Ravager having been captured by the sentries. Adam manages to disintegrate their hostage instead of extracting information from home, but fortunate for the Sovereign pair, Gamora radios in with her coordinates in an effort to hitch a ride with her people. It inadvertently leads the enemy right to the Bowie.

In his dream, Rocket recalls the day when the High Evolutionary, struggling through his own treatment, worked away at Batch 92. As a series of new animals were brought in for testing, he was asked how he knew about the changes that needed to occur to make them correct specimens...because it worked. Batch 92 removed the rage from the perfect creatures, making them ideal for the new world. Unfortunately, Rocket and Batch 89 would not be a part of it; he's a medley of mistakes they could learn from. He would be prepared to have his brain removed for study the following morning while the rest of Batch 89 would be incinerated.

The Guardians need the passkey. Fortunately, they arrive at Counter-Earth with little time wasted. And the same goes for the Sovereign.
6. Rocket is the only surviving member of Batch 89.

Answer: True

Rocket, receiving the news of his and his friends' impending demises, returned to his cage with a fair bit of collected scraps hidden away. Informing the others that they would not be heading to the new world, he put the pieces together to create a working cardkey. If they could make it to the ship bay down the hall, the four of them could escape together. As he opened the other cage, however, it was a short-lived success as the High Evolutionary, expecting rebellion, snuck into the room and shot Lylla, killing her. Though he called for back-up, Rocket brought him down and incapacitated him, taking his gun and firing on the guards. Unfortunately, in the ensuing firefight, Teefs and Floor were similarly felled. He would escape in one of the ships, but he would escape alone.

The Guardians land in a suburban region outside a Counter-Earth city and Peter manages to convince a local to let them into their home. Quill, Nebula, and Groot commandeer a car and drive off to the nearby Arête Laboratory structure to find who they're looking for while Drax and Mantis are told to stay back to guard Rocket. They don't wait long before pursuing.

Quill arrives quickly and is let into Arête, alongside Groot, as neither of them are carrying weaponry. And fortunately, the High Evolutionary allows them to stand before him while he gives the reasoning for his seeking perfection. Quill doesn't want to hear any of it and, in fact, it's a bit of a distraction since Arête forces storm his ship to collect Rocket. Fortunately, Gamora's still there to stand guard.

The conversation with the High Evolutionary doesn't go well after a short time either, especially when Quill notes that Counter-Earth's idea of perfection is quite flawed. The High Evolutionary agrees. As has been done before, he will need to raze this planet and start all over again. Pity, that.
7. The High Evolutionary decides to raze his current project altogether. Who does not survive the destruction?

Answer: Ayesha

Once it becomes apparent that the High Evolutionary's guard has Rocket in-hand (even if briefly), the Arête Laboratory begins to rise from its spot on Counter-Earth and prepare for destruction. Gamora manages to keep her foe at bay, but Adam Warlock swoops in to intercept, nearly collecting his prize before the explosions start, wiping out the planet's citizens. He races back to protect Ayesha, but she, too, is destroyed. He's, instead, blasted back onto the Bowie.

Nebula, meanwhile, watches the lab rise from the surface of the planet and calls for Mantis and Drax, discovering they've already arrived without the ship. The trio race to board the departing lab structure while calling Gamora and urging her to leave the planet. They don't manage to reunite with Peter and Groot who, having leapt off the structure with the record keeper, manage to land, take his record device, and get aboard the Bowie just in time to escape. Instead, the three still aboard the Arête find the prisoners inside-- countless bioengineered children of the High Evolutionary's new species.

On the Bowie, Quill, Groot, and Gamora work fast to connect the devices they need to to get the passkey and save Rocket. While they do, Rocket finds himself in a brightly-illuminated realm speaking to Lylla. He apologizes to her for letting everyone down, but she lets him know that she and the others will be fine. He asks if he can come along with them and she says that he can, of course, but not yet. He still has a purpose in life. As he and Lylla embrace, he's rocketed back to consciousness as the passkey succeeds. Quill is able to perform CPR, restarting Rocket's heart in the nick of time and saving his life.
8. Nebula, Drax, and Mantis are placed into a pit with which of these alien creatures?

Answer: Abilisks

When Rocket is revived, Nebula is finally able to reach Quill and the others via radio, communicating that she and the others stowed away on the Arête in an attempt to perform a rescue mission. Worse, while the group on the Arête reaches out, the High Evolutionary finds them, knocking them out before sending Quill coordinates. If he wants to joust, he says, then they shall. He does, after all, still need Rocket's brain.

Peter calls in Kraglin and takes on a different rescue mission himself, bringing the Bowie directly to the Arête and having Knowhere flank on the opposite side with Kraglin at the helm. The High Evolutionary, being reactive, sends out his Hellspawn creations while his starboard side is breached, and in further retaliation he unleashes his Abilisks on his prisoners. At the worst possible time, Adam Warlock also awakens, flying out of the Bowie and into Quill and Gamora's ship through the windshield searching for Rocket. It's truly chaos.

Quill and Gamora manage to crash onto Arête, escaping out the cracked windshield of their craft, and though Quill lets the ship explode with Adam inside, it doesn't succeed in defeating the almost unstoppable adversary. He and Gamora reunite with Rocket and Groot instead.

The Abilisks don't provide to be much of a threat either as Mantis recognizes that the creatures eat batteries. As she approaches one and assures it that everything will be okay, she uses her powers to soothe the beasts.

On Knowhere, Kraglin realizes his moment has come. Taking Yondu's needle, he lets it fly and, with Cosmo's help, defends the city.
9. The High Evolutionary's crew mutinies. Do they kill him?

Answer: No

The Arête's attack plan a failure, its control room suffers from tunnel vision. The High Evolutionary lashes out in an attempt to get his hands on Rocket, who's infiltrated the ship with the others, but his own advisors see the flaws in the plan. Aiming their weapons at him, his own people mutiny, but with a single blast of energy he destroys them all, intent on starting anew with the one resource that could fix everything. He just needs to retrieve it.

Though Quill plans to take the others to retrieve the missing Guardians, Mantis' efforts to tame the Abilisks works; they burst through a nearby wall. It means a change in plans-- they just need to get off the Arête. The only complication is that the others believe they need to save the prisoners onboard. Rocket, however, has something else to get done; he needs to finish off the High Evolutionary. The others all agree to come along.

With a hole in the starboard side of the ship, the Guardians realize that if they can connect it to Knowhere, all of the passengers aboard the Arête can simply navigate to safety. As they get the children out of their cages, Adam Warlock makes his return, appearing before Groot but falling unconscious, still exhausted from his last fight. He collapses in a heap, leaving Groot to carry him to safety.

As Nebula pilots from the damaged controls of the Arête, Cosmo waits on the other side on Knowhere, creating a psychic tunnel to allow the prisoners to cross the gap. The only Guardian still deep onboard the ship as the children cross over is Rocket, and as the last of the kids pass by, he spies a chamber filled with imprisoned animals. He does what he knows he must, preparing to open each and every last cage with his old keycard...but the High Evolutionary finds him there and retaliates. Rocket, using his suit and weapons, is easily able to escape the High Evolutionary's psychic grasp just as the other Guardians arrive and bring down his foe. Rocket, staring down at his adversary, decides to let him live as he and the others save all of the animals -- even the Abilisks.

Cosmo, unable to hold much longer, has no choice but to let the tunnel break, and it's just as Quill drops his Zune on the crumbling floor of the Arête. He makes a leap off the separating structure, propelling himself over the gap, but it's not enough. The others can only watch as he freezes, motionless in space.
10. As Quill departs as leader of the Guardians, who takes his place?

Answer: Rocket

As Peter begins to freeze in space, only one thing is able to bring him back to Knowhere. While the others watch on, powerless to save him, Adam reaches out and collects the leader of the Guardians, flying him back to the others and narrowly preventing his death. Everyone comes in to embrace Peter-- Adam included-- while Gamora watches on.

It's not long before Gamora takes her leave, reuniting with the Ravagers and saying her goodbyes. She tells Peter that she's still not who he wants her to be, but he says that's okay because she's still pretty great.

That same day, Peter speaks to the others frankly and explains that he's been running for too long. He needs time, and that time needs to be spent alone. Mantis agrees and says that she needs to do some soul-searching, deciding to leave with the Abilisks. Nebula says that she will remain on Knowhere to lead the city and make it the home she never had. Alongside Drax, she'll help raise the children of Arête.

The group is over, but the galaxy still needs its Guardians. That's why Quill gives the mantle of leader to Rocket, handing over his Zune as well. After the meeting, he presses play on the device, finding it plays on all of the speakers in the city.

Quill returns to Earth, finally walking the streets of his childhood before returning to his grandfather's home. He knocks on the door and asks for Jason Quill, finally reuniting with the man after decades apart.
