Collectively the guardians are working to repair Knowhere - the severed head of a Celestial they use as their headquarters - after the battle with Thanos. Star-Lord is there although not particularly helpful as he's busy mourning the loss of Gamora (as he knows her) by drinking to excess.

"Do yourself a favor, go home with your friends." Alas, his attempt at diplomacy fails. The disorderly dude gives Lip some lip, earning a free facial alignment. "OOPS" - Tony arrives home from work in the wee hours. Before bed, he stands at the open door of the refrigerator, drinking from a milk bottle. Sitting on the door shelf is a small tin of spice. On the side of the tin, we see the bar code - which wasn't on grocery items in 1962. Viggo Mortensen has over 60 acting credits - notably, Aragorn in "Lord of the Rings". He also has several producer, director, and composer credits. In a unique bit of irony, Mortensen is a fluent speaker in French, Spanish and Danish, none of which were heard in the film. His screen persona Tony's linguistic skills encompass only "Bronx" and faux German.

Cecil Louis Troughton Smith was born in Cairo in 1899 but he moved to London before he started primary school. He adopted his pen name, C. S. Forester, when he began writing novels in his 20s. His 11 novels and five short stories featuring Horatio Hornblower were published from 1937 to 1967 and they told the fictional stories of the titular Royal Navy officer's exploits during the Napoleonic Wars. While the Hornblower novels had a British protagonist during the 1800s, the lead of "The Good Shepherd", Commander Krause, was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. The novel tells the story of the battles the crew faced brought on by both war and the sea.

The film opens in 1962 at the Copacabana, the legendary New York City nightclub, where Tony is working as a bouncer and driver for Jules Podell, the club's owner. When we first see Tony, he is dressed smartly in a red tuxedo as he escorts a man and a woman to their table in the main room. When a fight breaks out between a couple of goombahs, Tony moves swiftly through the room towards the men and sucker punches one before he grabs the other and throws him out of the club. "You put your hands on me, you punk?" he says, as he picks himself up off the ground. "Do you know who I am? I'm going back in there." Tony shoves him away as he tries to re-enter the club, so the man takes a swing at him. Tony ducks, then knocks him down to the ground with one punch and proceeds to pummel him until he stays down. When the Copa has to close for renovations, Tony and the club's other bouncers, captains, and maître d's are out of a job until the club reopens in January. Tony resorts to unconventional ways to make money, like going to Gorman's and betting Fat Paulie 50 dollars that he can eat more hot dogs than him. "He knocked off 24. Guy's an animal," Tony later tells his wife, Dolores, which sets her off. "Are you crazy?" she asks. "You lost 50 dollars?" Tony calmly pulls out a wad of bills. "Dolores, please," he says, as he holds up the money. "I ate 26."

A number of characters make reference to the city where they are staying, and the German names of most of the characters might also have suggested Berlin to you. The screenplay for this movie was based on a 1930 stage adaptation (by the same author, William A. Drake) of Vicki Baum's 1929 novel 'Menschen im Hotel'. The literal translation of this would be 'People in a Hotel', but the English publication used the title 'Grand Hotel'. This movie has sometimes been referred to as the first portmanteau movie, meaning one in which multiple stories are intertwined. The opening scene of 'Grand Hotel' starts with a shot of busy telephone receptionists, before changing to some close-ups of the people who are using the hotel phones, giving us a very early idea of the complex structure of the interactions we are going to see.

She later tells Roger that she only needs to find a regular cloak, because no one will have the nerve to try putting it on. She goes into the room looking for a cloak, but becomes distracted by the other things she sees there. Lyra has a wonderful imagination, and an ability to think on her feet that will hold her in good stead. Lyra is wonderfully played by Dakota Blue Richards.
