Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Recognizes the sound of your voice

Since hearing is developed in utero around 35 weeks, babies will turn their heads toward the direction of your voice and smile in response to it. They also begin to babble and imitate sounds.
2. Holds head up when lying on stomach

Your baby is gradually increasing the strength needed for neck, shoulder and back muscles. Babies will hold their heads up for a few seconds at a time thanks to the all important "tummy time"!
3. Follows moving objects with their eyes

Known as visual tracking, your baby's eyes should work together to focus and track objects. It's a fine-motor skill that basically allows us to control where we place our gaze. As it develops, babies become increasingly better at accurately moving their eyes back and forth, up and down, as well as, diagonally and in circular motions.
4. Sitting with support

Propped up with pillows aids in developing the core strength needed for sitting. Babies learn to lean forward on their hands to balance while sitting and sitting independently will soon follow.
5. Passing objects between hands

Additionally, babies will start turning or twisting objects and may begin using an "inferior pincer grasp" which will further develop.
6. Rolls over from tummy to back

Rolling from tummy to back is usually followed by back to tummy. Rolling from belly to back is easier because it requires less change in gravity.
7. Enjoys dropping things on the floor

Your little "scientist" is developing the concepts of object permanence and cause and effect. Additionally they're developing their fine motor skills.
8. Begins crawling

Up until this point your baby's means of transportation have been via stroller/carrier or even your hip! Moving independently gives your baby a huge boost to self-esteem!
9. May be wary of strangers and clings to familiar people

You may think your baby is "regressing" when they start to be wary of people and become "clingy" but that is not the case. "Stranger anxiety" is one of the first emotional milestones. It's perfectly normal and typical of mental development.
10. Moves around upright while holding on to furniture

Congratulations--your baby is now an official "Cruiser"! Your baby has mastered the art of pulling up, holding on and navigating the room. Batten down the hatches--Baby is on the move!
