Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The race's first Road Block, held in Los Angeles, had teams crossing a tightrope and unscrambling a word puzzle. What was the answer to the puzzle?

Answer: City of Angels

To kick off this season of the race, thirteen teams headed from the Hollywood Sign to Downtown L.A., stopping off at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel for the inaugural Road Block. There, they could take a number then head to the roof where one racer would have to cross a tightrope between two balconies.

After completing this crossing, they would then need to solve a word puzzle, unscrambling twelve letters into three words with specific numbers of blanks to identify their next destination. Though CITY OF ANGELS could apply to Los Angeles, their starting city, it would also apply to Bangkok, their first destination. Providing this answer to Derek and Claire (winners of Season 34) would get them their next clue and allow them to race off to LAX.
2. Team members had to collect lotus flowers while completing their Road Block in Leg 2. Did a team use the Express Pass to bypass this challenge?

Answer: No

Racing out of Bangkok and into rural Thailand, the first order of business in Leg 2 was to complete a Road Block task, and this involved heading into a lotus field, wading into waist-high murky water, collecting lotus bulbs and leaves. Upon collecting twenty of similar size (unbloomed), they could return to the farmhouse, learn how to properly bundle their find, and hand it off to the farmer to get their next clue. Jocelyn, Rob, Lena, Ashlie, Greg, Steve, Garrett, Ian, Malaina, Robbin, and Yeremi, and Elizabeth completed this challenge.
3. At the Amber Fort in Leg 5, racers had to learn a Rajasthani dance. What did they balance on their head as they performed?

Answer: Pots

After running up into the Amber Fort outside Jaipur, India, racers were asked to pick a team member to join a local group of dancers to learn a Rajasthani dance known as Bhavai. What racers discovered was that this difficult dance would involve balancing pots on their head while performing the moves. Though their teachers would dance with up to nine pots, racers only needed to balance three. If the pots fell or they failed to execute the choreography, they'd have to go to the back of the line. Ian, Ashlie, Chelsea, Corey, Anna Leigh, Garrett, Andrea, Morgan, Yeremi, and John all joined in to learn the dance.
4. In Jaipur, racers finishing their Leg 6 Road Block had to use stamps to print which design?

Answer: Peacock

Arriving at Jaipur Mahal towards the end of their sixth leg, the nine racing teams had to join in with local handicraftsmen to decorate a provided bolt of fabric collected during an earlier task. For this task, the selected racer had to enter the building and use four different block stamps with different coloured paints to create nine peacock designs. If they could stamp properly and get the approval of their judge's critical eye, they could race to the Pit Stop. Greg, Rob, Todd, Joel, Lena, Steve, Malaina, Robbin, and Liam all participated in this challenge.
5. Which of these was the only competing racer not to complete a Road Block task in Germany (in Leg 7)?

Answer: Malaina

Leg 7 took teams from Frankfurt to Cologne, Germany and to the racers' surprise, the race course featured two separate Road Blocks, meaning both racers from each team would be completing a solo task; whoever completed a challenge at Rheinstein Castle would have to sit out while their partner searched the hundreds of thousands of love locks on Hohenzollernbrücke. Though Andrea and Malaina eventually reached Rheinstein Castle and Andrea completed the currency exchange/rappelling task there, they fell so far behind the other teams heading into Cologne that they were eliminated before reaching the second Road Block.
6. In Leg 8, racers visited Slovenia and needed to determine a four letter code that could only be seen from which of these viewpoints?

Answer: From the sky

Racers drove to the north of Slovenia in Leg 8 to locate the Lesce-Bled Airport and there, one member had to take a glider ride over the beautiful Lake Bled, keeping their eyes peeled for a series of canoes containing numbers which, when properly arranged, would give them the year of Slovenia's independence. If they could properly identify this number when their glider landed, they'd be given their next clue, otherwise they'd need to take another ride in the sky before trying again.
7. In Ljubljana, racers attached which of these to a krosnja, delivering them for their Road Block in Leg 9?

Answer: Wooden utensils

Starting off a second leg of the race in Slovenia (in Leg 9), six teams had to finish off a Road Block before departing from the Slovenian capital, and for this task they had to take on a traditional street job of outfitting a krosnja (a wooden device) with wooden utensils, and delivering them on foot through the old town. If they could bring a dozen items to their judges, precariously navigating the streets to find their way to their next clue, they could return to their partner and keep racing.
8. Which team utilized an Express Pass to skip the Road Block in Sweden in Leg 10?

Answer: Rob and Corey

Visiting the island of Tynningö in Stockholm, Sweden, racers joined a midsummer party near the water, selecting one team member to help celebrate the event. Here, Garrett, Anna Leigh, Greg, and Ashlie were required to complete the floral wreaths to adorn a maypole, then erect that maypole on the island to the approval of local partygoers.

After joining in a dance around their creation, they could get their next clue. Rob and Corey, who collected an Express Pass in Slovenia in Leg 8, used it here to skip this particular task and keep racing.
9. Racers had two Road Blocks to complete in Leg 11, both of which involved activities found in what country?

Answer: Ireland

This leg of the race saw a unique twist to the typical Road Block expectation. Since teams generally need to have a balanced Road Block count going into the final leg of the race, some racers needed to match their four tasks to their teammates' six. What this meant was that in encountering two separate Road Blocks in this leg, some teams had to divide them equally between their partners while Corey (of Rob and Corey) and Steve (of Steve and Anna Leigh) had to complete both.

The first of these had racers learning Riverdance while the second had them playing hurling at Croke Park.
10. Did the final leg of the race, held in Seattle, Washington, contain any Road Blocks?

Answer: No

Although the last leg of the race will traditionally see a pair of Road Blocks in order to force both team members to adapt to the tasks at hand and overcome a tough race to the finish line, this season saw the return of the Scramble in which the three remaining teams were sent to various spots in Downtown Seattle to complete their remaining tasks (and head to the requisite memory challenge).

As such, heading into the finale, each finalist had completed six Road Blocks, having wrapped up the balance between them in Ireland a leg before.
