Answer: Small Heath Alliance

The club was named Small Heath Alliance until 1905, when they became known as Birmingham Football Club. After that, the legend was born.
2. What year was the club that became known as Birmingham City formed?

Answer: 1875

Small Heath Alliance were formed in 1875, by a bunch of cricketers from the Holy Church in Bordesley Green.
3. Which of these grounds have Birmingham City under any name, not called their home for a full season?

Answer: Villa Park

The club played at Arthur Street between 1874-77, before moving to Muntz Street for 19 years, until they made St. Andrews their home. Villa Park is the home of rivals Aston Villa.

Answer: Alfred Jones

Alfred Jones managed the club for 18 years between 1892-1908. Over the years, Birmingham have had a few famous names as manager, including Ron Saunders, Lou Macari, Barry Fry and Trevor Francis.

Birmingham reached the final but were beaten 2-1 by West Bromwich Albion. They only reached the final once more in the 20th century, and were again beaten, this time 3-1 by Manchester City.

Answer: 1920-21

Small Heath won the second division in 1892-93, but weren't promoted as they lost out to Sheffield United and Darwen, in a three way play-off to see who would be promoted. It would take them a further 28 years before they were promoted along with Cardiff City.
10. What year were Birmingham promoted to the Premiership for the first time?

Answer: 2002

The club finished 5th in Division One, but were promoted via the play-offs after first beating Millwall, in a two-legged tie 2-1 on aggregate, and defeated Norwich City in the final 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
