The joint venture experiment between North Sydney and Manly-Warringah lasted for 2 seasons, after which the licence reverted solely to the Manly-Warringah club. North Sydney initially objected to their continued use of the name Northern Eagles, but dropped that action before the commencement of the 2002 season. In 2003 the Manly-Warringah Leagues Club dropped the use of the title Northern Eagles.
