Unacceptable Questions The following is a list of questions which we will not be accepting in this category: Time-based Questions Questions which will have a tendency to change as time passes. This is typical of MMORPGs and online gaming. While something may be true at the current time, patches and released builds will result in certain accommodations and this may result in wrong answers and info. Video Game Rating Questions/Questions about Video Game Cover Art Because both ratings and cover art vary depending on the region of their release, it is unfair to ask questions like this when there are so many players around the world. Additionally, both of these are easily determined by a quick search on Wikipedia or Google and it acts like a give-away question. Release Date Questions We also very strongly advise against release date questions. As time goes on, these will have little bearing on knowledge of the game and will become increasingly difficult. Like questions about ratings, release dates are listed on various gaming websites and Wikipedia. Questions about Inappropriate Material It's not as simple as "Pac-Man" anymore, as some video games nowadays can contain mature content. Questions on Funtrivia quizzes must be appropriate for the general public regardless of the content of the game itself. Linked Questions All questions must be stand-alone. They should not require knowledge of previous questions or answers in order to be understood. Questions about Unreleased Material Until a game is released to the public, all info regarding it is tentative and can not be used in quizzes. Even though info may be released by a gaming company (via demos or press releases), much of this can't be verified until the launch. A Beta Test is not a final product. Scrambles/Anagram Questions Please see Brain Teasers guidelines regarding these. Extremely pedantic questions will also be strongly advised against. For example, asking 'What coloured pen did a character use in such-and-such level?' will likely be unnoticeable, even if someone plays the quiz as they play the game. Additionally, we only accept quizzes about Flash-based games on a case-by-case basis. Please consult an editor if you wish to base a question/quiz on an internet-based Flash game. Questions about game mods are also done on a case-by-case basis. A general rule of thumb: if it's not a well-known mod, even by someone who doesn't play that particular game, it may be too obscure. If you have any questions or concerns about your own submitted questions, please ask an editor for clarification. |
