1. What are the full names of the two agents you play in the game?

Answer: James Taylor and Gary Stewart

James (Player 1) is the older of the two who is always calm and level-headed. He is the one in the grey suit. Gary (Player 2) on the other hand is a young agent and is quite brash and impetuous. Gary is the agent in the dark blue suit.

Answer: Rogan & G

Player 1 takes the role of Thomas Rogan, the eager and determined one whose fiancee, Sophie, is missing in the mansion, and player 2 takes the role of G, who's rather memorable due to his funny name. G is cold, calculating and clever, and the second game reveals him as the one who discovered all the bosses' weak points.

Answer: Harry Harris and Amy Crystal

The players first meet Harry Harris and Amy Crystal at the end of Chapter 1. They mention the Curien Case ("House of the Dead 1") and part. You meet them again at the end of Chapter 2, where they watch you battle Hierophant, the second boss. During the third level, they drive the boat carrying the players as passengers whilst they shoot the enemies, and later drop them off at a cave. You hear from them again after defeating Tower, the third boss, and hear Amy scream. The last time you see Amy and Harry is at the end of Chapter 4, where the boss, Strength, has wounded Harry. Harry gives you his keys and tells you where to find Goldman, the main antagonist of the game, and you proceed to Chapter 5.

Answer: Curien

You don't see him until before the third boss fight, but Sophie mentions him in the cutscene after defeating the first boss. He is eventually killed by the final boss, who disliked the idea of following Curien's command.

Answer: Goldman

Caleb Goldman is the owner of a company, which turns out to have funded Curien during his research in "The House of the Dead 1". It turns out that the reason he has released these monsters to wipe out humanity is because the humans have failed in their original duty; to protect the life cycle. In the end, no matter which ending you get, Goldman throws himself off the top of his headquarters after his masterpiece and the final boss of the game, Emperor, is defeated.

It's interesting to note that all the bosses in the game and its sequels are named after tarot cards. Chariot is the boss of Chapter 1, and appears as an armoured brute wielding a halberd. His weak point is a small hole in the armour, exposing his heart, and once brought down to a quarter of his health, he will break out of his armour and reveal himself as a large pink zombie. At this point, the player can shoot him anywhere until he is dead. Chariot also appears as a mini-boss in Chapter 4.

Answer: Venice

The game is set in Venice, which is evident in Chapter 3 when you and others are riding in boats across the water-filled village. It is also mentioned in the later sequel "The House of the Dead 4" that the events of "House of the Dead 2" took place in Venice.

Answer: Magician

Magician Type 0, the final boss from "House of the Dead 1", returns as the fifth boss in "House of the Dead 2", complete with most of his original attacks and theme music. His previous defeat is evident through his appearance as half his body is riddled with worms, and his weak points are now shown in G's files. He fights almost identically to the way he does in the first game, except his final attack now shoots the fireballs straight towards the player instead of up into the air. Whilst this enables the player to shoot Magician whilst the fireballs are flying towards him unlike his previous attack. He is also a harder target because of his distance, but most of the fireballs in his new attacks miss you and he doesn't shoot as many fireballs as he did in his original final attack.

Answer: Unknown

It is unknown, though those who have played the third game know the ending where she survives is the true one because Rogan has a daughter. Judging by the information given in "House of the Dead 1" however, it is unknown due to the three different endings. The main ending doesn't show anything special. The bad ending depicts Sophie as a zombie, showing that Chariot and Hangedman's wounds had killed her. A gunshot is heard in the background when the final screen is shown. To get the bad ending, the player must have a rank lower than the special rank, and their score must end with a 0. The final canon ending shows Sophie emerging from the mansion alive and well, which is achievable by getting the special ranking.

Answer: Lisa Rogan & G

The players take control of Thomas Rogan & Dan Taylor during Chapter 0, but when Dan is killed and Thomas captured, Thomas's daughter Lisa decides to look for him, and Thomas's old partner G agrees to help her. The player(s) control these two all the way through Chapters 1-4, and the first half of Chapter 5, before Player 2 begins controlling Daniel Curien for the last part of Chapter 5 and the boss fight against the Wheel of Fate.

Answer: Hangedman

All the bosses in the game are named after tarot cards. Hangedman is the boss of Chapter 2, but is seen briefly in Chapter 1 flying away with Sophie and threatening the agents. Hangedman doesn't have a certain weak point, but he does have a swarm of smaller bats to command. He will first send the bats after the player until they are either all dead or he loses half of his health. After that, Hangedman will fight the player himself. Hangedman and his bats are also confronted again as a mini-boss in Chapter 4, but this time he only has half the amount of health he has compared to the first time the players confront him.

Answer: Kuarl

The armour is called Kuarl. You hear Judgment say "Go Kuarl!" a lot when Kuarl is about to attack and at the beginning of the fight. Shooting Judgment will hurt both Kuarl and Judgment, whilst shooting Kuarl will only drain a small amount of their shared health bar. Kuarl will die when approximately three quarters of their health bar is drained, leaving Judgment to fight the player alone.

Answer: Hermit

Hermit is the boss of Chapter 3. He appears as a large spider with a green body and a pink face. His weak point is his face, which he will occasionally block with his two front legs. Hermit also shoots balls of web at the players, but initial causes damage by crawling close and slashing them with his legs.

Answer: The heart beating in and out of his chest

Hierophant is the second boss of the game. He is a large scaly monster wielding a trident, his heart beating in and out of a hole in his chest. He also commands piranhas to attack the player, and later uses an attack where he jumps very high and stabs the player upon landing.

Unlike the others, he didn't have a prototype because he was one of Curien's "masterpieces", which might explain why he's a bit disobedient. Magician appears as a tall slim armoured humanoid creature with his three weak points beating red. He flies very fast and throws fireballs at the players, and later launches multiple fireballs into the air, leaving them to descend slowly towards the players.

Answer: Four

Unlike the first two "House of the Dead" games, there are four endings in "House of the Dead 3" as opposed to the previous two games only having three. Where the first "House of the Dead" games have a good, a bad and a standard ending, "House of the Dead 3" has a good, a bad, a joke and a secret ending. The good ending shows Lisa and Daniel emerging from the facility with Daniel talking about moving away from his past. When Lisa finally rushes off to meet up with G and her father, Daniel pauses for a moment and makes one last vow that if humans went down the wrong path, he'd return to the facility and continue what his father started. The bad ending is set in the same scene as the good one, but Daniel is instead angry about his father's work being destroyed, and ends up transforming into a zombie. The joke ending is once again set in the same scene, when Lisa and Daniel suddenly see their Land Rover being driven away. Thinking Rogan and G had left them behind, Lisa calls out to the driver, but hears her father behind her, and sees that G and Rogan are not in the car. The ending then shows that it is in fact a zombie who had stolen their car. The secret ending takes place inside the facility, where a man in a black suit is shown limping across the room. The camera doesn't show a clear view of the man's face, leaving his identity unknown, as he picks up a phial saying "It seems he didn't understand it's true purpose", and that is all the ending shows.

Answer: G

At the beginning of the game, the player confronts a wounded G (Player 2 from the first game) sitting in the library. He tells the player that he underestimated the enemy and paid for it, and then gives them a golden book. Before each boss fight, if you look at the book showing the weak points before it flicks open, you can make out the front page saying "G's files".

Answer: Survival

To fit with the theme of being in a zombie apocalypse, "House of the Dead 3" uses the name "Survival" as opposed to "Arcade Mode", which the previous two games used. In addition to the standard Survival mode, there is also "Time Attack", where the player plays through the game as normal but with a time limit, which increases with every zombie they kill, bonuses they shoot, and other features. When the player is attacked, the timer will decrease greatly, and the only way Time Attack can end is if the player either completes the game, or their timer reaches zero.

Answer: A maggot jumps out their chest and attacks you

If you shoot one of these zombies in the chest, a maggot jumps out and attacks you. The zombies will then die. The maggot can be killed in one shot so it isn't a problem. However, you can easily kill the zombie by shooting them in the head, which in turn also awards the player more points.

Answer: The Fool

The Fool is the boss of the "EFI Genome Ward" and "D.B.R. Institute" levels. For the first half of the fight against him, he climbs around the cage trying to get closer to the player(s). The player(s) must shoot either one of the claws on his hands or one of the claws on his feet. This will differ depending on the way The Fool is climbing, but will be highlighted so the player knows where to shoot. The Fool also has an attack where he shakes the cage, causing several corpses to fall down towards the player(s). The player(s) must shoot the corpses to obliterate them and prevent them from being hit. The Fool's final attack has him leaping high into the air, trying to hit the player(s) with one of his claws. The player(s) must shoot the claw several times before it reaches them in order to stop themselves from losing a life.

Answer: Wheel of Fate

The final chapter in the game shares the same name as the final boss; Wheel of Fate. The display screen showing the chapter name shows images of Rogan and Curien, and their respective offspring Lisa and Daniel. It also shows an image of the Wheel of Fate boss and the Magician from the previous games, and then their genes to show that it was their genes that created Daniel's cure. "The House of the Dead" and "The Original Sin" are the names of the final chapters from the first two "House of the Dead" games, 1 and 2 respectively.

The player's ranking depends on their score. If a player scores 80000 points or more, they will achieve the "Special" ranking, which is the highest in the game. In addition to the ranking, anyone scoring above this points value will also receive the special ending where "House of the Dead 1" protagonist Thomas Rogan makes an appearance.

The Time Attack score is shown along with the average distance the zombies were away from you, and quickly you defeated them. Above this is a picture of Dr Curien, giving an appropriate comment depending on whether you killed the enemies more frequently at long range or close range, and how quickly you killed them.
