At the 2012 Show, the Best in Show award went to a dog called Bridger, which had been entered by a brother and sister in three events: The boy in the Dog and Handler Look-a-Like Contest and the Dog and Child Partnership, while the girl entered the Best Dog Tricks class.

The world record attempt for the 'largest reunion of AWL adopted pets' was not successful, but then it is always an excuse to hold the event again. Also included in the 2011 event was a 'By your side' Beach Walk - 3km or 5km. Included with the entry fee was an official Adoption Reunion T-shirt which was designed for the owner, but the animal could wear it if desired.
The AWLSA charter is "Providing rescue and refuge services for unwanted animals." Keep up the good work.

In Adelaide, the event was originally called the "Canine Grand Prix" as it was held in conjunction with the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and participants walked around the race track a week before the race. I have three dogs but a family of four, so one year we had to take along a pet sheep as an animal. RSPCA Australia believes that all animals should be treated with sympathy, consideration, compassion and tenderness.
