1. How many classes are there in AKC Junior Showmanship?

Answer: 6

The four classes are divided by age, and are further broken down into the experience of the Junior handler. They are, in order: Novice Junior, Novice Senior, Novice Intermediate and Open Intermediate Open Junior, and Open Senior.
2. How many wins, with competition present, must a Junior handler get in order to progress to the Open class?

Answer: 3

Once a Novice Junior handler gets his or her three first places with competition present, he or she can now move into his or her respective Open class!
3. Which of the following cases would hinder a Junior handler from showing a certain dog in Junior Showmanship Competition?

Answer: The Jr doesn't own or co-own the dog, and isn't related to the owners

Junior handlers must own or co-own the day they wish to show in Juniors, or it must be owned by an immediate family or household member.
4. What is the highest award at a show for Juniors?

Answer: BJH

BJH, or Best Junior Handler, is the award that all 4 class winners compete for at the end of all the classes.
5. How many wins in Open does a Junior Handler need to compete at Westminster Kennel Club?

Answer: 10

If a Junior handler wins 10 Open classes in a year with competition present each time they win, they can go to Westminster the following year!

The dog show classes are: Puppy (6-9 months) (9-12 months), 12 to 18 Months, Novice, American-Bred, Bred-By Exhibitor, and Open.

Male and female dogs compete for points within their own gender, but once they are champions, they are entered together.
