Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Return her frosted

Answer: ernest rutherford

Baron Rutherford of Nelson (his proper title), was the discoverer of several radioactive isotopes, and was the scientist who classified the different forms of radiation as alpha, beta, and gamma. He is known also for his work in the development of atomic theory, which led ultimately to the atomic bomb. He won the Nobel prize for Chemistry in 1908.
2. Gene tubers nag John

Answer: johannes gutenberg

Early information on Gutenberg is sketchy to say the least. He is believed to have been from Mainze, Germany. It is known that he was in Strasbourg between 1430 and 1444, where he probably worked as a goldsmith, and began printing.
In 1438 he invented moveable-type mechanical printing, and went on to print the Gutenberg Bible around 1455. The Reformation, the Renaissance, and the scientific period of the 17th century, would not have been possible without his invaluable contribution to the techniques of mass printing.
3. Upraise conic consul

Answer: nicolaus copernicus

Copernicus was born in Torunac, Poland. He studied mathematics and optics at Cracow. His treatise, "On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres", received a hostile reception when it was published in 1543, as it challenged the ancient teaching of the Earth as the centre of the universe - it wasn't until the 1600's that Galileo and Kepler began to develop the physics that would prove Copernicus right.
4. Legit liver lacerations

Answer: evangelista torricelli

Evangelista Torricelli was born in 1608. In 1643, he proved that air exerted pressure. He showed that air could support a column of mercury thirty inches high, and so, invented the barometer. He died in 1647.
5. Hail far academy

Answer: michael faraday

Michael Faraday developed a process for liquefying chlorine. He also discovered benzene, and in 1833 introduced the laws of electrolysis. He was the first to develop a primitive electric motor, and later developed the voltmeter and the coulometer. The unit of capacitance (Farad) is named after him.
6. Mix fallen grenade

Answer: alexander fleming

Whilst making observations on moulds, Alexander Fleming noticed that a certain mould prevented the growth of bacteria. That mould of course, was penicillin. Fleming was born in 1881, and died in 1955; his discovery of penicillin led to a revolution in the treatment of bacterial infections.
7. Lie agile lag oil

Answer: galileo galilei

The importance of quantitative measurements, and of the application of mathematical techniques, had been understood since ancient times, but it was the precise observations and calculations of Galileo, that led, a century later, to the important conclusions of the English scientist Isaac Newton, and his formulation of the three laws of motion.
8. Slippery jet shoe

Answer: joseph priestley

Joseph Priestley researched the relationship between plants, animals and air. He isolated oxygen in 1774, and obtained water by igniting hydrogen and oxygen. In 1775 he discovered both hydrochloric and sulfuric acid.
9. Radon salt loaves

Answer: alessandro volta

Volta found, in 1800, that two metals, seperated and immersed in a solution capable of conducting an electric charge, could be so arranged that new charge was created as fast as the old charge was carried off along a conducting wire. In so doing, he invented the first electric battery, and produced an electric current.

Volta's work gave the first clear indication that chemical reactions had something to do with electricity, - if a chemical reaction could produce an electric current, perhaps an electric current could produce a chemical reaction. It wasn't for another century or so that this theory was proven and applied.
10. Mens bee sherry

Answer: henry bessemer

Henry Bessemer developed a relatively cheap steel-making process that burned off the impurities in molten pig iron, by blasting through with hot air.
