Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whipping sub mess distraction?

Answer: weapons of mass destruction

The Bush Administration and others believed that Iraq possessed these. This category includes chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons.
2. Ray sheen chains?

Answer: regime change

In other words, Bush and others wanted Saddam Hussein and his followers outta there. I saw a bumper sticker that said "Regime change begins at home."
3. Saw dumb who's sane?

Answer: Saddam Hussein

Hussein is his given name. SH gave himself the other part of his name, "Saddam," which comes from a Persian word that means "to crush." So his whole name might mean "Hussein Who Crushes Obstacles."
4. Pry Muenster tow knee blare?

Answer: Prime Minister Tony Blair

Regarding this war, he supported President Bush despite opposition from his own Labour Party and many British voters. As an American, whenever I compare Blair's public speaking abilities to Bush's, I feel mortified.
5. Him betted rapport terse?

Answer: embedded reporters

This term refers to journalists who accompany military units into the "theater of war."
6. Hopper rage shin ear rocky feed him?

Answer: Operation Iraqi Freedom

This is the name that the Bush Administration gave the war. (I don't know whether Blair's government had a hand in creating the name.) It's the equivalent of "Operation Desert Storm" for the Gulf War.
7. Jacques kin ah?

Answer: shock and awe

Waves of bombing were supposed to "shock and awe" Iraqis at the war's outset.
8. Haunts blinks?

Answer: Hans Blix

This Swedish former-lawyer was head of the UN weapons inspectors. His name was frequently in the news in the months leading up to the war.
9. Precedent chores dabble you push?

Answer: President George W Bush

Nicknamed "Dub-ya," to distinguish him from his father, President George Herbert Walker Bush, he barely won the 2000 election (many say he did not win at all). According to most polls, a majority of Americans supported his decision to start a war in Iraq, though anti-war demonstrations raged around the globe and in U.S. cities such as San Francisco, New York, and Washington, D.C.

A few years after Bush started the war, support for it had plummeted.
10. Kohl lush shun nubby welling?

Answer: coalition of the willing

This was the Bush Administration's term for the countries that DID support the U.S. and Britain's decision to start a war in Iraq. Those conspicuously missing from the C of the W were France, Germany, Russia, and China. In case anyone is offended by this quiz, I truly don't wish to make light of the situation itself--just the rhetoric surrounding it. Peace, Robyn
