Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. All right panel, are you ready? It's time to play 'To Tell the Truth'! All of the following statements are true: Jack Gordon is 38 years old. He attended UCLA where he majored in Film Studies. Jack has one dog and two fish. He is not related (nor has he ever been) to his best friend. Jack married once, but got divorced. Question: What is Jack's job?

Answer: Film Teacher

If you want a comprehensive guide on how to solve this quiz, start by reading the 'Interesting Information' at Question 8.
2. All the following statements in this question are false: Jack Gordon married a woman younger than his brother Bob. His middle name is Francis. Jack works as a producer on 'Saturday Night Live'. He doesn't live with a female roommate, nor is he related to Jane. Question: What is Jack's middle name?

Answer: Robert

The name Robert is never mentioned in the statements, but by process of elimination, it must be Jack's middle name.
3. The following statements are either true OR false: Jack Gordon has either two or three sisters. He is gay and plays football. His middle name is Sean. Jane is Jack's younger sister. Question: What sport does Jack play?

Answer: Soccer

Because the statements in Question 6 were false, so are all of these. So Jack has neither 2 nor 3 sisters, he's not gay, he doesn't play football, and his middle name is not Sean. By process of elimination (Remember that the statements in Question 2 are all False), we know that Jack's middle name must be Robert. That's a total of four answers solved. (For more explanations, check out Question 4.)
4. Bob is older than Jeff, who is younger than Jack. Susan is older than Jeff, but younger than Marissa. Jane and Carol are both older than Martin. Susan is older than Jack, but a few months younger than Martin. Bob is older than Jane and Carol, but he is not the oldest. One of these people is Jack's best friend, two of them are his brothers. Question: Which of these people did Jack marry?

Answer: Marissa

Now, just writing this clue gave me a headache, so it must have been really bothersome for you! But if you read the clues and made a chart, the order of names was (from oldest to youngest): Marissa, Bob, Jane/Carol, Martin, Susan, Jack, and Jeff. So from this we know that Marissa was Jack's wife (Remember that Question 2's statements were all false) and that Jeff is Jack's younger brother. That makes a total of 3 siblings for Jack (Bob, Carol, Jeff), which is another answer. Also, we know that Jack's best friend is older than him, only mentioned in this question, and not a relative, so his best friend must be Martin (answer!). (Continue on to Question 5.)
5. All of the following statements are either entirely true or entirely false: Jack lives with Susan. He's a film teacher, but his favorite movie is not 'The Matrix'. Jack is not a director and he does not own a pet iguana. Question: What is Jack's favorite movie?

Answer: Jaws

Okay, we know that Jack's favorite movie is 'Jaws', not 'The Matrix', so all of these statements are true. This means Jack is a Film Teacher (answer!) and he does not own a pet iguana. We're almost there! (Go to Question 7 for more explanations.)
6. All of the following statements are either entirely true or entirely false. If they're false, so are all the statements in Question 3: Jack has no allergies. He is a screenwriter and his middle name is Peter. His favorite movie is not 'Jaws', but rather, 'Titanic'. Jack's best friend has been mentioned in multiple statements throughout this quiz. Question: How many siblings does Jack have?

Answer: 3

We know from Question 8 that Jack does have allergies, so all of these statements are false (as are those in Question 3). So we now know that Jack is not a screenwriter, his middle name isn't Peter, his favorite movie is Jaws, not Titanic (answer!), and that his best friend is only mentioned once in this quiz. (For more explanations, mosey on over to Question 3)
7. Some of the following statements are true, some are false: Jack loves to play tennis. His middle name is Peter and he's allergic to peanut butter. Jack hates basketball. He has a black cat named Lucifer. Question: What is Jack allergic to?

Answer: Fish

Question 9 tells us that only two of the statements in this question are true. Now, since Jack plays soccer, has Robert as a middle name, and is allergic to fish, we can deduce that he hates basketball and has a black cat named Lucifer. This means that Jack owns a total of four pets (The dog and two fish from Question 1, and this cat). That's the final answer. Now there's enough information to figure out which contestant is the real Jack Gordon! (Let's finish up at Question 10.)
8. All 6 of the statements in this question alternate from true to false or from false to true (ex: True/False/True or False/True/False): Jack's favorite movie is 'Fight Club'. Carol is Jack's older sister. Jack can't eat dairy products. Jack plays soccer in an adult soccer league. He's not allergic to tunafish or salmon. He majored in Film Studies. Question: How many pets does Jack own?

Answer: 4

There are a few ways to solve this quiz, but I started at Question 8. Hopefully this was the first question you solved. The statements in this question alternated from False to True (False/True/False). We know this because the final statement says that Jack majored in Film Studies, which we know is true from the statements in question one.

Therefore, we also learn that Jack's favorite movie isn't 'Fight Club', that he does have an older sister (Carol), that he's not allergic to dairy products, that he plays soccer, and that he's allergic to fish. So if you started working on this question first, you already have 2 answers (Soccer and Fish). (For more explanations, go to Question 6.)
9. These final clues are all true: Two statements in Question 7 are true, the rest are false. Jack has a brother who is younger than him, and a best friend who is older. Question: Who is Jack's best friend?

Answer: Martin

The clues in this question helped you to figure out who Jack's brother and best friend were. It also helped you to determine the accurate statements in Question 7.
10. Now it's time for the contestants to make a final comment and convince us that they are the REAL Jack Gordon. Contestant 1 says, "My middle name is Francis." Contestant 2 says, "I'm a Film Teacher." Contestant 3 says, "My best friend is Susan." Contestant 4 says, "I have 3 pets." Now, will the REAL Jack Gordon please stand up? (Who stands?)

Answer: Contestant 2

Congratulations! You made it to the final question! Who is the real Jack Gordon? Well, Jack's middle name is Robert (not Francis), his best friend is Martin (not Susan), and Jack has 4 pets (not 3). So the real Jack Gordon is Contestant #2!
