Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Artie's middle name?

Answer: Steven

Born October 11, 1967, Artie was named after his father, Arthur Steven Lange, Sr. Artie's dad features prominently in many of Artie's hilarious childhood stories, but tragically, he did not live to see his son's success. He broke his neck in a roofing accident, and died sometime later of complications.
2. Artie is known for being what type of entertainer?

Answer: All of these

Most famous for being Howard Stern's sidekick, Artie has had a long and varied comedy career. On November 9, 2006, Artie performed his stand-up comedy to a sold out crowd at Carnige Hall.
3. After graduating high school, what did Artie do to impress a cute bank teller?

Answer: He slipped her a note demanding $50,000, to which he signed his name.

The teller, not understanding Artie's early attempt at humor, triggered the silent alarm and summoned the police. Artie was arrested for attempted bank robbery. Luckily the judge realized it was not a serious robbery attempt, and Artie only had to do two years probation and 25 hours of community service.
4. What school did Artie attend after a judge told him to get an activity in his life?

6. In what blockbuster movie did Artie have a role that ended up being completely cut out of the final film?

Answer: Jerry Maguire

Jerry Maguire was an Academy Award winning movie starring Tom Cruise as a sports agent attempting to start his own agency with a single client played by Cuba Gooding Jr. Artie's role as a sports radio host was cut from the movie, in spite of a reported shouting match between Artie and Tom Cruise's characters.
7. What year did Artie become a full time member of the Howard Stern Show?

Answer: 2001

When Jackie "The Jokeman" Martling left "The Howard Stern" show over a salary disagreement, his chair sat empty for a few months as a variety of comedians came in and tried to fill the bill. Eventually, in late 2001, Artie Lange was offered the job.
8. In what 2006 feature film did Artie star, co-write and produce?

Answer: Beer League

Known as "Artie Lange's Beer League", the movie tells the story of an unemployed slacker (Lange) who tries to save his softball team from getting kicked out of their league, while attempting to manage a rocky relationship with his girlfriend. Earning a Thumps Up from film critic Richard Roeper, "Beer League" did not have a wide theatrical release, but is available on DVD.
9. Which one of these television shows did Artie NOT make a guest appearance?

Answer: ER

In spite of Artie's demanding schedule, he has still managed to make the occasional guest appearance on television. He usually plays over the top, loud-mouth characters.
10. In the movie "Dirty Work", what insult does comedian Don Rickles call Artie's character?

Answer: Baby Gorilla

In "Dirty Work", Artie plays sidekick to Norm MacDonald, and together they start a revenge-for-hire business. Don Rickles, as their boss, improvised "Baby Gorilla" as a tailor made insult for Artie. Artie has recounted how he and Norm had to do several takes of that scene, because they were laughing so hard.

The name Baby Gorilla has stuck, and Artie fans everywhere embrace this nickname, just like Artie did.
