Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the archetypal Python character with the knotted hanky on his head?

Answer: Gumby

Played by the brilliant Michael Palin. Grundy makes the Aussie soap Neighbours, so are also in the comedy business. (Al) Bundy was the hero of 'Married with Children'. Mr Brumby is my clarinet teacher.
2. Who directed "Life of Brian"?

Answer: Terry Jones

Does this make him the greatest comic genius of the team? Gilliam did direct a few films in his time, but not this one.
3. In the spoof crime documentary about the "Piranha Brothers," what is the name of the giant hedgehog?

Answer: Spiny Norman

The female impersonator who "walked out" with Dinsdale Piranha many times, explains that "Norman could be anything up to 800 yards long."
4. Whose wife had her head nailed to a coffee table in the "Piranha Brothers"?

Answer: Stig O'Tracey

Louigi Fercotti was the owner of a high class night club ("definitely not a cheap clip joint"). Dinsdale, of course, did the nailing. Vince was another of his victims, who had his pelvis screwed to a cake stand.
5. In "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," what is the name of the enchanter who directs the knights to the cave of the rabbit.

Answer: Tim

Having lost three knights to the vicious legomorph, they use the Holy Hand Grenade to blow it to bits.
6. Who played many female roles in "Monty Python's Flying Circus," including the wife in the marriage guidance counselor sketch?

Answer: Carol Cleveland

Despite the progressive nature of Python humour in many ways, Carol usually played the role of a dolly bird who was nice to look at but did little. Well, it was 1970s Britain.
7. Who played the role of the lumberjack's sweetheart in "The Lumberjack's Song"?

Answer: Connie Booth

Connie most famously played the maid Polly in the best sitcom of all time, "Fawlty Towers."
8. Which gluttonous character explodes in "The Meaning of Life"?

Answer: Mr. Creosote

One of the few funny characters in this poor Python offering.

Answer: Throat-Wobbler Mangrove

The presenter in this sketch, played by Palin, decides he is too silly to interview.

Answer: Miss Jackson

Actually the late, great Graham Chapman, in drag.

Answer: Graham Chapman

Palin and Jones was the other main paring. Eric Idle tended to work on his own.

The sketch also featured Rastus, who prepares the "Harlem Stinger."
14. In "Monty Python and The Holy Grail," what is the name of the 37-year-old man who Arthur first addresses as 'Old woman'?
