Fone mentions to Thorn that when he and his cousins were kids, Phoney was the oldest and took care of them.

I wouldn't recommend these books if you are trying to teach someone to read, as it is all dialogue - obviously, I mean it's a comic - and so the words are often spelled incorrectly to look more like actual speech.

This was one of the many points of character development that we see for Smiley. He really cared about Bartleby - enough to give him his only food when he knew there wasn't any more!
