There were at least two characters named Michael who killed people in 1970s movies.

Michael killed police Captain McCluskey and drug dealer Sollozzo in "The Godfather" after they had killed Michael's brother, Sonny. They had also tried to kill Michael's father, Vito.

In "Halloween" Michael had stabbed his sister to death when he was a boy. He was locked up in a mental institution, but then escaped after he grew up.

Answer: Barney

Barney was Andy's friend in "The Andy Griffith Show". Sometimes they caught criminals together. Andy was the sheriff, and Barney was the deputy.

Barney was the friend of Fred Flintstone in "The Flintstones". This was a cartoon sitcom which inspired live-action movies.
