Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which movie was so bad that the two reviewers discussed various movie plots that they could have used to escape the theater, including "The Shawshank Redemption", "Papillon", and "Escape from Alcatraz"?

Answer: The Internship

Dave: "[Jake] could be Steve McQueen, and I'll be Hoffman."
Brad: "So you'll jump off the roof of the building?"
Dave: "Right, right. You could be Steve McQueen, and I'll be Dustin Hoffman. I won't make it in the end, but at least he'll have informed me of the plan!"

This was viewed as infeasible, however, since Jake would have had to tunnel through the chair he was sitting in (which would require a tiny pickax and a miner's helmet for lighting), construct a dummy of himself, and put his clothes on it.
2. Brad claimed that the children's movie "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure" would have been better if it were done in a similar style to which other movie?

Answer: After Hours

The others might well have been interesting ideas, but Brad said that "The Oogieloves" should have been done as a dark comedy. Griffin Dunne, playing his character from "After Hours", would be trying to get his balloons back while interacting with the characters from "The Oogieloves". It would be both bizarre and amazing.
3. Which movie wasn't released on Thursday night at a theater near the reviewers, leading them to do a Midnight Screening of...nothing?

Answer: The Pyramid

This found-footage horror movie had such bad press that 20th Century Fox panicked and dropped it from a wide release to a limited release with no announcement beforehand, which meant that Brad and Jake's theater canceled all of their screenings. Instead, the two of them just sat in their car for half an hour and talked about whatever the heck they wanted. Topics included Red Lobster stomachaches, the 1977 pornographic film "Chatterbox!", the ending of "Mass Effect 3", the discrepancy between the quality of a movie and its trailer, Garret Dillahunt, and the Vietnam War.
4. Which of these movies did NOT incite Jake to destroy something he received while at the theater?

Answer: Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

In "Spy Kids 4D: All the Time in the World", Jake tore up his "Aroma-Scope" card, which was used to create a "Smell-O-Vision" during the film. It didn't work properly, though, and most of the scratch-n-sniff bits just smelled like cardboard.

While watching "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure", Jake was so infuriated that he accidentally twisted the glow-in-the-dark plastic wand he was given at the box office so hard that it snapped, spraying the liquid inside all over Dave. He was not pleased.

The review for "The Internship" began with Jake burning his ticket stub in front of the camera. Nothing else needs to be said about that, really.

"Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" was certainly terrible, but Jake didn't have anything to destroy (unfortunately).
5. In "The Gallows", Brad questioned the reason why a high school production of a play would have a fully functioning gallows. He compared it to if a performance of _____ used an actual guillotine (though admittedly that would be the least of their problems if they were performing that). Fill in the blank.

Answer: Quills

Adapted into a film in 2000, "Quills" was a play about the Marquis de Sade's stint in an insane asylum. Needless to say, the play's high disturbing and sexual content would make it somewhat inappropriate for a high school to perform. This wasn't the only gap in logic in "The Gallows", for the record. It was a veritable Swiss cheese of plot holes.
6. As if the unnecessary Smurf puns weren't bad enough in the first movie, the reviewers were aghast that "The Smurfs 2" actually featured a reference to "Smurfholm Syndrome". Which of these did they NOT name while attempting to come up with worse puns?

Answer: Smurfatitis A

"The Smurfs 2" review is by far one of the most legendary of the "Midnight Screenings". At one point, Jake was so angry that he tore off his promotional "Smurfs 2" jacket, prompting the other two reviewers to also remove their shirts. They then performed most of the rest of the review topless.
7. After seeing the trailer, which movie did Brad call "A.I. for Vegetarians"?

Answer: The Odd Life of Timothy Green

Brad was disappointed in "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" because it didn't have Jude Law as a robot prostitute, which he and Jake agreed was the best part of "A.I."
8. Which movie had the same name as one of the films Brad wrote and directed, leading to dozens of requests from fans to see and review it for the sake of comparison?

Answer: Paranoia

For the record, Brad considered the mainstream "Paranoia" to be way, WAY worse than his own, due to it being incredibly boring, predictable, and boring. It was also boring.
9. Generally speaking, the longer the review is, the worse the movie was. Which of these reviews was NOT over one hour in length?

Answer: The Best of Me

"No Good Deed", with a running time of 1:08:26, edged out the record previously held by "A Madea Christmas", which was only 1:05:24.

Despite Brian putting "The Best of Me" at #1 on his year-end Top 10 Worst of 2014 list, it had a review of only 56 minutes. Close, but no cigar.

Bizarrely enough, one of the longest "Midnight Screenings" to date is the one for "The Avengers: Age of Ultron", which the reviewers all really liked.
10. Now for the flipside of that last question. All of these were terrible movies, but which is the only one of these choices with a "Midnight Screenings" review over an hour long?

Answer: Left Behind

Three weeks after "No Good Deed" set a new record for the longest review, "Left Behind" squeaked past with a time of 1:09:47, despite the fact that Brad and Jake found the movie incredibly boring.

"Winter's Tale" and "Epic" were within five minutes, but "Draft Day" was the closest, with a runtime within 45 seconds of an hour.
