Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. So let us go to the park located on the island of Sentosa, Singapore's island resort. At the entrance of the park you will face the first zone, Hollywood. Transported to the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown, you also get to travel back in time with a '50s style diner. What is this chill-out place called?

Answer: Mel's Drive In

Mel's Drive In serves burgers and milkshakes with the full on appearance of an old fashion diner from the set of 'American Graffiti', shining in the bright sunlight. Along with replica old cars parked outside, a stage is located near the entrance where at different times, The Cruisers and Mel's Dinettes, a male and female singing group respectively, comes out through the crowd and burst into song for the entertainment of the people.

If burgers aren't your thing, check out the Hollywood China Bistro for more oriental fare. Here they serve Cantonese food along with some dim sum in a cozy setting for guests. Hollywood is also lined with gift shops, like the crowd pleasing Minion Mart, dedicated to all things 'Despicable Me', and the flagship Universal Studios Store, with items exclusive to Singapore, along with a few items from Florida and Japan that occasionally come for sale.
2. Walking along the street, you have traveled from Hollywood to the tall apartments of New York. Over in the streets stand a replica of the New York Public Library, and a ride that will bring you to space to save...pasta? What venerable kids program will you be in to save spaghetti?

Answer: Sesame Street

"Sesame Street: Spaghetti Space Chase', is a Dark Ride suitable for the kids. It follows Elmo and Super Grover as they travel up to space and find all the spaghetti that's being sucked up all into space. Also in New York, you get to see the Rockafellas, a B-boy dance troupe who brings out the funk in the streets. You can also dine at Loui's for a pizza, or check "Lights, Camera, Action" with Steven Spielberg and see the wonders of special effects.
3. Walk past the gritty streets of New York and you will be transported to the future, this is Sci-Fi City that we are coming into and we see a massive robot making a massive impact at the wall. Optimus Prime stands tall at 'Transformers: The Ride', does he?

Answer: no

Optimus doesn't stand atop the ride entrance, it is indeed Bumblebee who stands tall with great gusto to all guests. "Transformers: The Ride", a 4-D dark ride flings riders in the middle of a battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons fighting for the Allspark. Aside from Singapore, Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida also have the ride, and each ride has been built at the budget of $100 Million.
4. Continuing the trek up Sci-Fi, comes a pair of massive roller coaster tracks, one in red and the other in blue. 'Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon' sees a dogfight on rails. Which statement is NOT true about the ride?

Answer: Cylon has seven different inversions

The tallest pair of dueling roller coasters in the world at 42.7m high, "Battlestar Galactica" brings a dogfight on rails. Human on the red track is modeled after the Colonial Mk.II Viper used by the pilots on the show. Human is a seated conventional roller coaster; has no inversions but has many drops and turns to generate positive G-forces.

Cylon has five inversions, and is modeled after the Cylon Raider. Contrasting to Human, Cylon is a suspended roller coaster. Both roller coasters reach at top speeds of 90 km/h (56mph).

Sci-Fi City also contains the Accelerator, a teacup spinning ride situated beneath Galactica's rails.
5. Out with the new, and in with the ancient, Ancient Egypt to be more exact. This zone only contains two rides, and the star is of course, "Revenge of the Mummy". An intense indoor roller coaster that's not for the faint of heart. Hollywood and Florida both have the rides too, but are all the rides the same?

Answer: No

All three versions of "Revenge of the Mummy" have different layouts. In Florida, the ride has a fair amount of humor, with a false unloading station that leads to another long drop, to the end of the ride showing a video starring Brendan Fraser getting a fright from Imhotep. Hollywood has a much different ride layout with the car moving backwards at the end of the ride rather than at the first half before any high speed stretch.

Singapore takes on a more horrifying and thrilling speed rush as it follows Florida's layout without any of the humor, thrusting you into the universe of "The Mummy" with fire effects and a few lifts and drops from this indoor roller coaster. For Singapore park visitors, they can also ride "Treasure Hunters", a much slower ride with cars modeled after old vintage jeeps, a great alternative for those who don't have a strong will for the thrill, and dine at the Oasis Spice Cafe for Middle Eastern and Indian delights.
6. After the terrors of the undead, see the majesty of a time when dinosaurs ruled the world, here at Jurassic Park! A zone fun for the whole family, you get to grace the iconic gates of the park and get soaked in the process. To the right of the entrance is the way to Universal Studios Singapore's only water thrill ride, but what is it called exactly?

Answer: "Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure"

"Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure" takes you through a tour of the park in a river rapids ride that goes horribly wrong. From being chased by Velociraptors, being spit at by Dilophosaurus that culminates with a face off with Tyrannosaurus, before plunging down 40 ft and getting really soaked, believe me I got pretty dripping. Luckily, there are two drying pods after the ride to help for that kind of emergency.
7. If getting wet isn't your thing, Jurassic Park has a flying alternative. Soar in the air with the "Canopy Flyer", giving you a beautiful view of the park below before speeding above the water rapids and close to the treetops. The track contains five individual cars, but how many people can sit on each car?

Answer: Four

This ride is one of my personal favourites. It's a fast moving view from the top and is considerably gentler compared to "Battlestar Galactica" and "Revenge of the Mummy".

If speed isn't your thing, there is also "Dino-Soarin'", a Fly-Around ride where you get to fly high on the pterosaurs and adjust how high you can go. Behind that is the "Amber Rock Climb", a rock climbing wall with a fossil theme. Along the way there is also the 'WaterWorld' live show, a spectacular with stunts and explosions all round.

After getting soaked from the show or the rapids, and getting chilly from flying around or climbing up high, you can help yourself to a hot dog at Fossil Fuels located at the entrance of the park, or to the Discovery Food Court, modeled after the Discovery Center in the first film.
8. We escape prehistory and have a go with the realm of fairy tales in the kingdom of 'Far Far Away'. It's Shrek's realm and a total caricature of Hollywood all round. Located at the far right is a castle tower and beanstalk, with Puss in Boots! Speaking of beanstalks, care to help me complete the ride's name?

Answer: "Puss in Boots' Giant Journey"

Opened in April 2015, "Puss in Boots' Giant Journey" is a suspended family roller coaster that brings you up high in a whacky journey to retrieve golden eggs from a giant goose that has been captured by a giant. It features some minor thrill with a few drops and a blaring of Lady Gaga's "Americano" in the background.

It is one of Far Far Away's most popular rides with average waiting times of 30-50 minutes at peak hour.
9. To finish off with Shrek, comes the magnificent castle that houses a theater for the masses of peasants who come around the park. What be this part of town that people come to see in here?

Answer: "Shrek's 4-D Adventure"

Set after the events of the first film, "Shrek's 4-D Adventure" is a fun watch at the park, as Shrek saves Princess Fiona from Lord Farquaad, you get to feel and see their actions come to life with the aid of water sprayers and shaking seats.

The universe of Shrek also includes "Enchanted Airways", a junior seated roller coaster modeled after the Dragon from the movie. Children can also have a go at the "Magic Potion Spin", an indoor kiddy Ferris Wheel located at "Fairy Godmother's Potion Shop & Juice Bar". Other dining options can be found here too, with Goldilocks serving fried chicken and milkshakes, whilst Friars' does nuggets, fish and chips and salads.
10. Finally we finish the tour with a trek around the madness of "Madagascar". Only two rides are in this part of the park and are great for taking it easy while you move it move it. But only two rides? Am I telling the truth there?

Answer: Yes

"Madagascar" has two rides. "Madagascar: A Crate Adventure" is a dark boat ride which plays out certain scenes from the movie, showing them getting stranded on the island and driving out the foosa. This ride was going to have a thrilling drop to soak guests, but several technical issues and budget problems caused many changes to the ride; leaving the park with the slow family water dark ride we see today.

The other ride is "King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round", a carousel with "Madagascar" characters for the seats and spinning to a number of disco songs.

We have come full circle and reached back to Hollywood!
