Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Sue say is strange about the tower as she is walking up the stairs with Eddie and the tour group?

Answer: The tower seems familiar to her, as though she has been there before.

Sue has the strangest feeling that she has been to the tower before, but she can't understand why she feels this way, since she has never even been to the city in which it is located.
2. In what city is the tower located?

Answer: London

Eddie and Sue, the two main characters, are a brother and sister who are visiting London as tourists while their parents are at a meeting in their hotel (or so they believe.)
3. How did Sue get back at Eddie for stealing her camera?

Answer: She pretended to struggle with the handcuffs.

Eddie was so scared when he saw his sister squirming to get free of the handcuffs, which were a torture device, she couldn't keep a straight face.
4. What color was the big man's cape?

Answer: black

The big man is usually referred to as the man in the black cape, and we later learn that he is the Lord High Executioner.
5. In what century did the prince and princess Edward and Susannah live?

Answer: fifteenth

The tour guide explains to the group that two prisoners, a prince and princess from the early fifteenth century, mysteriously disappeared from the tower on the night of their execution. We later discover that the prince and princess were sent forward in time and are none other than Eddie and Sue!
6. Why did the cab driver get angry with the kids?

Answer: they didn't have the right money to pay him for the ride.

Sue and Eddie were unsure about why the money wasn't right, and the best explanation they could come up with was that their parents had made a mistake. We later find out that the money is from the fifteenth century where they truly lived.
7. What is the name of the king's sorcerer who tries to save Edward and Susannah from their fate?

Answer: Morgred

At the end, when they return to the twentieth century, he becomes their guardian, Mr. Morgan. Edward and Susannah become Eddie and Sue Morgan.
8. Why was the sorcerer unable to return them to the future?

Answer: He was afraid of being captured by the Lord High Executioner.

The Lord High executioner had stolen the stones in order to send himself to the future and bring the kids back. Eddie, the mad pickpocket, stole the stones and gave them to Morgred in the hopes that Morgred would use the stones to send them back to the twentieth century, only to find a sad and frightened Morgred who said he wouldn't be able to help the people of London if he were captured.
9. Why were Sue and Eddie unable to remember anything about themselves for the majority of the book?

Answer: The sorcerer had put a spell on them.

Morgred explains that when he sent them into the twentieth century, he tried to give them new memories so that they could survive, but the memories weren't complete, resulting in them not being able to remember their last names, their parents, or where they lived. In the end they each get their memories back and become Prince Edward and Princess Susannah of York.
10. The sorcerer teaches Edward the spell to send them forward in time.

Answer: true

Yes, Morgred was too afraid of being captured to cast the spell a second time, but he told Edward the words to use and showed him how to pile the stones on top of one another to make the magic work.
