Answer: Count Olaf

Fiona is now revealing to the Baudelaire siblings that she is joining Count Olaf's evil team of villains. Fiona is semi-happy at the thought that her family (herself, brother, and step-father) could be together again. Count Olaf "laughs" at the Baudelaire children's feelings of betrayal, etc.
6. Which Baudelaire calls the word "Friend" into the submarine?

Answer: Sunny

After being asked by a voice inside the submarine "Friend or foe?" Violet says that the eye on the sub might mean association with Count Olaf, in which case they are foe. Klaus says the eye might mean association with V.F.D., in which case they are friend. Sunny knows there is only one answer that will get them into the sub, and calls out "Friend."
7. Sunny says a word that means "Don't worry - Phil and I have arranged a surprise dessert for tomorrow night." Which word does she say?

Answer: Yomhuledet

Sunny says "Flosh," which means "Don't worry - I cleaned my teeth before using them as kitchen implements" in another place in the book. Answer: Fiona

Fiona is the only person we know of to have a stepfather. The other three people mentioned have no family we know enough about to determine they have a step-father.
10. The author, Lemony Snicket, repeatedly mentions something scientific throughout the whole book. What is it?

Answer: The Water Cycle

There are quite a few pages devoted to this topic. And it is very, very repetitive. "The water cycle consists of three phenomena - evaporation, precipitation, and collection - which are the three phenomena that make what is known as "the water cycle."
