Some "Paws" for Thought Trivia Quiz

My name is Nipper the dog. My mom had to write this quiz 'Some "Paws" for Thought' and she looked to ME for inspiration. Since this quiz is all about paws, I suggested we write something about each of the animal brothers and sisters I have.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hello, my name is Dolly and I am Nipper's sister, my mommy adopted me when my first mommy died. I am a mixed breed but I have a lovely nature and am very good with children. I am black, but can come in other colours and am often used as an assistance dog. "Paws for thought" and think about what type of dog I mainly am?

Answer: Labrador

Did you know that my ancestors came from Canada? My breed can do many things such as sniffing out bombs and weapons and other things. I can be used for hunting and retrieving but my Dad says I wouldn't be any good at that because I'd eat whatever I caught!
2. My name is William. My first family had to decide what to do with me as they were moving overseas and couldn't take me with them. "Paws for thought" and decide what the best thing was to do for me?

Answer: Advertise for a new home and make sure I got the right people to live with.

My new mommy was looking at the internet one day and saw an advert for my mother Jess and I needing to be rehomed together. She was so sad that maybe we would be split up that she 'phoned the people and asked if they could come and live with her and her family.
She 'phoned and her and my new daddy and Aunty Tanya came all the way to the farm which was a 3 hour drive there and we met and found our new parents.
I'm very friendly and love playing with a ball.
3. I am Jess, William's mother. I am black and white and I love working with sheep. If you "Paws for thought" can you tell what type of dog I am?

Answer: Border Collie

Yes, I am a border collie and since I don't live on a farm anymore I can't herd sheep now. But, just after I got here my family got two new kittens and I was mommy to them and made sure I knew where they were all the time. Our daddy takes William and me to the golf course every day and we play ball. William is very lazy and always makes me find the ball. Isn't he a bad boy?
4. Our names are Katy and Murphy and we are two ginger and white cats which our family adopted. "Paws for thought" and think about which answer is the best one of the following options when getting a new animal?

Answer: Animal shelter

Animal shelters are very special places who take in unwanted or lost animals and look after them and find nice homes for them. We even had our own baby sitter when we were adopted - Jess the collie wouldn't let us out of her sight when we were babies but now we know how to trick her! Hehe she can't climb trees and we can!
5. My dad says I've got "dubious ancestry". "Paws for thought" and try and think about what type of dog I am?

Answer: Mixed Breed

I don't know what "dubious ancestry" means but my mother says the polite way to describe me is a mixed breed or since I come from Africa I should be called an "Africanis". My name is Isis and I was found as a 6 month old puppy and was welcomed into this home and my best friend here is Dolly. We play and play all day.
6. Huwo, my name is Holly and I am cheeky, energetic and friendly. I'm only little and am brown and white. Can you "Paws for thought" and guess what breed I am?

Answer: Jack Russell

Of course I'm a Jack Russell! And beware anybody who tries to steal my food or my basket. BIG trouble then.
7. I am called Nancy and I am known as a Shih Tzu. "Paws" for thought" and guess which country I originated from?

Answer: China

Yes, my breed originated in China and is also known as the "Chinese Lion Dog" and the "Chrysanthemum Dog". Pfffft I don't look like those lousy chrysanthemums my mom likes to grow but I can growl like a lion! I'm mommy's favourite - I heard her say so! ;) My human brother named me after Nancy in the Nancy Drew books.
8. When I came to this home I was a tiny little kitten who had been dumped by the side of the road. They say I am a tabby cat. What feature do I have on my face that tells you I am a tabby?

Answer: M mark

Yes, I have an "M" shape on my forehead and I have a lot of swirls and stripes and different patterns. My name was supposed to be Bugsy but they have renamed me "Psycattic" because they say I am mad. I'm not really, I just like to jump on the dogs and other cats and scare them silly - hee hee.
9. I am small, black and white and am named Misty. I am furry, very independent and though my family think they own me - they don't! I own them! What type of pet do you think I am?

Answer: Cat

Cats are very independent creatures and come and go as they please. Except when they want their food and a good rubbing and pampering. My mommy chose me from the animal shelter because I was the only kitten there among a lot of BIG dogs and she felt sorry for me.
10. AHEM! Excuse me! I came up with this idea and didn't even get a mention so I think it's my turn now. As you know, my name is Nipper and I am the BOSS in this house. It doesn't matter what Misty says. I want to tell you about my best friend, whose name was Paddington Bear. There are two main breeds that were Paddington's ancestory, known as smooth and wire. What is the name of the breed?

Answer: Fox Terrier

Fox Terriers were originally bred in England and were originally used for hunting. I think that's why Paddy used to dig up mommy's garden thinking he'd find something.

Paddington Bear, or Paddy as he was commonly known, lived with us for 13 years until he got very sick and had to go to over the rainbow bridge. If you want to see all about the rainbow bridge for dogs, you can do an internet search for a poem about it.
