Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How did Jupiter perform his so-called mind-reading on Pete and Bob by guessing the contents of the letters, at the starting of the book?

Answer: Walkie-talkies

Easy as winking really!
Jupe had left one walkie talkie on in their Headquarters. And when he returned from the post-office, he just switched on his other walkie-talkie and overheard Pete and Bob discussing the two letters they had received.
2. What was the name of the Mummy, discovered by Professor Yarborough?

Answer: Ra-Orkon

It was discovered about 25 years in Egypt before the story began, by him and his colleague Aleph Freeman.
3. What was the name of Mrs. Banfry's Abyssinian cat?

Answer: Sphinx

Her cat was missing, and she called upon the three to help find her cat. But only Pete was really interested in the case and didn't want to have anything to do with a whispering mummy!
4. What did the House of Hamid from Libya deal in?

Answer: Carpets and rugs

The eldest son of the House of Hamid, whose name was Hamid, was sent to the USA to procure Ra-Orkon, because they believed it to be their ancestor. This was revealed to them by a beggar-magician called Sardon.
5. Wilkins, the butler, once worked on Broadway.

Answer: False

Actually, he worked in Vaudeville.
6. How do Pete and Hamid end up following the Mummy thieves Joe and Harry?

Answer: They stowed away in the Mummy case, which was loaded into the back of Joe and Harry's truck

It was unintended of course as they got a free ride to Joe and Harry's garage which was a storage place for stolen goods.
7. Pete marked the place from where they escaped with question marks. What colour were they?

Answer: blue

Jupiter used white chalk, and Bob used green.
8. What difficulty did the three face when were driving to Joe and Harry's garage after they found its location?

Answer: There were too many places which were marked with question marks

It was the work of Skinny Norris and his minions! They were bent on making the three look like fools, having them run around looking for the right place.
9. Who hired Joe and Harry to steal the Mummy and its case?

Answer: Professor Freeman

He was the criminal mastermind behind the whole plot. He was also Sardon the beggar-magician who convinced the House of Hamid, intending to make them scapegoats for the crime. He also made the mummy whisper.
He actually only wanted the case, as his father had hidden a fortune in gems inside the case!
10. How was the Mummy made to whisper?

Answer: Using directional speakers

It was a sort of scientific ventriloquism really.
