Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sports. Which NFL head coach finished his career with exactly 200 career regular season victories?

Answer: Marty Schottenheimer

Marty Schottenheimer (born 1943) spent 21 years as a head coach in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns (1984-1988), Kansas City Chiefs (1989-1998), Washington Redskins (2001), and San Diego Chargers (2002-2006), where he accumulated 200 regular season wins. His regular season success was not matched in the post season where he had a 5-13 record, never advancing to the Super Bowl. As a player, he spent six seasons with the Buffalo Bills and Boston Patriots.

Tom Landry (1925-2000) won 270 regular season games (all with the Dallas Cowboys) and appeared in five Super Bowls, winning two. Curly Lambeau (1898-1965) earned 225 regular season wins with the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cardinals, and Washington Redskins, winning six NFL championships (all with the Packers). Dan Reeves (born 1944) won 190 regular season games with the Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons, appearing in four Super Bowls without winning any.
2. Sci/Tech. In the imperial measurement system, which of the following lengths is equal to 200 inches?

Answer: One rod, two inches

The rod is also called a perch and it is a measurement used primarily by surveyors. One rod is equal to five and one half yards or sixteen feet six inches or 198 inches. A acre of ground could be measured as a rectangle forty rods by four rods. A military pike in pre-modern armies was often about one rod in length.

One yard is equal to three feet or 36 inches. One fathom is equal to six feet or 72 inches. One fueling is equal to one eighth of a mile or 220 yards or 660 feet or 7,920 inches. The furlong is most commonly used in horse racing.
3. Which long-running television series did not call its 200th episode "200"?

Answer: 7th Heaven

For its 200th episode, "7th Heaven" (1996-2007) aired "It's Late" as the opening episode of its tenth season. The series focused on the lives of Reverend Eric Camden and his family members. This particular episode introduced the character of Rose who would later become the fiancee and almost-wife of middle Camden son, Simon.

In the "Stargate: SG-1" episode "200", the crew assists a writer who is creating a script about interstellar wormhole travel. In the "South Park" episode "200", several celebrities that have been ridiculed by the town plan a lawsuit against the town of South Park. In the "Criminal Minds" episode "200", the team speculates as to who will become the new section chief.
4. Geography. Which of these highly populated US states has over 200 counties?

Answer: Texas

Texas leads all other states in the United States in the number of counties at 254. Brewster County is the largest county in Texas by size at slightly smaller than 6,200 square miles--larger than Rhode Island, Delaware, or Connecticut. Loving County, Texas had the smallest population of any county in the United States in the 2010 census--just 82 people.

The other three states are far behind with Florida at 67, New York at 62, and California at 58. The US state with the second largest number of counties is actually Georgia at 159.
5. Religion. In the Bible, which person sent a gift of 200 ewes and 200 she-goats in an attempt to make peace with his brother?

Answer: Jacob

Jacob and Esau were twin sons of Isaac and Rebekah. In Genesis, Chapter 25, Esau, when he is famished, sells his birthright (as the elder son) to Jacob for some food. In Chapter 27, Jacob tricks Isaac into giving him the blessing intended for the elder son. Esau is so enraged that Isaac leaves the area. Jacob returns years later (Chapters 32-33) and attempts to win Esau's forgiveness through several gifts including 200 ewes and 200 she-goats.

In Chapter 4 of Genesis, Cain was jealous enough of Abel that he killed him. The Bible is silent as to whether Abel had made any attempt to reconcile with Cain before his death. Later, in Chapter 9, Ham's actions incur the wrath of Noah against Ham's son, Canaan. Again the Bible is silent about any attempt Ham might have made to gain the forgiveness of his brothers, Shem and Japheth. The relationship of Moses and his brother Aaron is described in several Biblical books and they generally were on a friendly footing.
6. Entertainment. Which "fearful" villain was the primary adversary of the Dynamic Duo in "Batman #200"?

Answer: Scarecrow

This issue, with an issue date of March 1968, had Batman and Robin face the Scarecrow (Jonathan Crane), who has a great understanding of the psychology of fear and skill in creating fear-inducing chemicals. Fearful, Batman and Robin swear off crime fighting. Alfred must encourage them to continue by reminding them that both lost their parents to criminals. This allows the issue to reprint the first page of "Detective Comics #27", which introduced Batman for the first time in 1939. Reinvigorated, Batman and Robin go on a crime-fighting rampage and capture Joker, Penguin, and Killer Moth (each making a cameo appearance). They are then ready for their rematch with the Scarecrow.

While the Toddler, Chairwoman and Two-Face are important Bat villains, they did not appear in this issue.
7. Hobbies. The player receives 200 dollars for landing on or passing the "GO" space. In the classic 1935 edition of Monopoly released by Parker Brothers, how many of the properties cost exactly 200 dollars?

Answer: Five

The four railroad properties (Reading, Short Line, Pennsylvania, and B&O) each cost 200 dollars. In addition, New York Avenue (the space just before the "Free Parking" space) also costs 200 dollars.

200 dollars is also the rental price a person pays for landing on a railroad when one opponent owns all four railroads. 200 dollars is also the price played for rent when a player lands on St. James Place or Tennessee Avenue (The other properties in the same color group with New York Avenue) and an opponent has placed two houses.
8. Celebrities. Which celebrity couple lived for many years in their home at 200 Caudill Drive, Hendersonville, TN?

Answer: Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash

Johnny and June Cash lived at the home from 1968 until 2003 (the year both died). The house, on the outskirts of Nashville, sat on 4.6 acres of land. Johnny and June would on occasion walk to the gates of the property to meet fans. While the house hosted many famous friends, it was also the site of the Cash family Christmas parties.
9. People. Which Emperor, born in Northern Africa, ruled the Roman Empire in 200 CE?

Answer: Septimus Severus

Septimus Severus was the founder of the Severan Dynasty, which ruled the Roman Empire from 193 CE to 235 CE. Septimus Severus (145-211), born in what is now Libya, served as Emperor for the first eighteen years of the dynasty, the last few with his sons Caracalla and Geta as co-Emperors. His reign saw a great strengthening of the military at the expense of the Roman economy.

Marcy Aurelius (reigned 161-180) was one of the Adoptive Emperors, known for his essays popularly known as "Meditations". Valerian (reigned 253-260) was infamous in Roman history for being captured in battle and died a prisoner. Diocletian (reigned 284-305) felt that the Empire had become too large for one person to rule and created the Tetrarchy where four men each controlled a portion of the Empire.
10. For Children. Which represents 200 in Roman numerals?

Answer: CC

In Roman numerals, L is equal to 50, C is equal to 100, D is equal to 500, and M is equal to 1,000. Other Roman numerals would be I equal to one, V equal to 5, and X equal to 10. A smaller Roman numeral after a larger one would be added to the larger one. A smaller numeral before a larger one would be subtracted from the larger one.
