Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On his 2005 "A Salty Piece of Land" tour, Jimmy Buffet played two sell out nights at which Chicago stadium?

Answer: Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field has been home to the Chicago Cubs baseball team since 1916, although it was known as Weeghman Park at that time. William Wrigley Jr. of the famed gum company was one of the syndicate's owners, but took over complete control in 1921, and in 1927, the park was renamed. Other acts to play Wrigley Field include AC/DC, Roger Waters and Bruce Springsteen.
2. Which weapon are Neptune and Poseidon normally pictured with?

Answer: Trident

Trident gum was first manufactured by Cadbury and was one of the first sugar free gums, using saccharin in place of sugar from 1964. While Jimmy Carter was president of USA, Trident was declared the official gum of the White House. The trident is a three pronged spear which while excellent for spear fishing was also used in ancient Rome by gladiators trying evade capture in a net.
3. Which band had number one hits in UK charts with "Keep On Movin'" (1999) and "Let's Dance" (2001)?

Answer: 5ive

5ive were a boy band from the management stable of Simon Cowell and enjoyed chart success between 1997 and 2002 when they disbanded. They reformed briefly in 1997 as a four piece band, but still called 5ive and after splitting up again reformed once more in 2012, becoming a trio, still with the name 5ive in 2014.

5 gum is made by Wrigley, and each piece of the gum has just 5 calories, hence the name. It is said to offer a fresh flavour which stimulates the senses, which may explain why the boy band have never been approached to advertise it.
4. In UK, which form of payment can bounce?

Answer: Cheque

A bounced cheque is one which is returned by the bank due to insufficient funds being available to cover the cheque.

In Lebanon, Cheque gum is made by the Master company and is available in a variety of flavours including Peppermint, Liquorice Mint and Watermelon as well as Mojito Lime and Birthday Cake.
5. Which of the following signs would direct me to a way out of a building?

Answer: Exit

Exit comes from the Latin "exitus" meaning departure and such signs can be seen in abundance every day.

Turkish company Unigum started manufacturing Exit gum in 2010 in a variety of flavours. Bizarrely, Exit International is the name of a pro euthanasia and assisted suicide group, which makes the slogan for Exit gum, "With Exit sugarfree gum, enjoy the full taste of life!" kind of ironic.
6. Karen Mills-Francis, Robert Rinder, Judy Sheindlin and Romesh Ranganathan have all filled which role in TV shows?

Answer: Judge

Mills-Francis and Sheindlin are both actual retired judges, now TV stars on "Judge Karen" and "Judge Judy" respectively. Rinder is a criminal barrister in UK but not an actual judge, while Ranganathan is a much loved comedian adept at dispensing his own forms of justice on the show "Judge Romesh."

Judge gum is a Filipino gum, with the tagline, "chillax with the judge." It is made by REBISCO who were formerly known as the Republic Biscuit Corporation.
7. Which 1962 Disney film starred Walter Pidgeon and an Irish Setter dog?

Answer: Big Red

I don't think "hairball" would be a great name for a gum, but then again, who knew that Big Red would be?

Big Red is a cinnamon flavoured gum, first made by Wrigley in 1976, so as the movie came first, maybe it is named after a dog? The movie, set in Canada, wasn't a huge success by Disney standards, although it did follow a predictable Disney story line of boy meets dog, dog and boy separated by baddie, dog and boy rescue baddie, all live happily ever after.
8. Which measurement can easily be calculated by dividing distance travelled by number of steps?

Answer: Stride

To clarify the question, if it takes 120 steps to walk 100 metres, then 100 divided by 120 equals 0.83. This give a stride length of 0.83 metres.

Stride gum is a Cadbury product that first went on sale in 2008 and includes the "shift" range of flavour changing gums, from Berry to Mint and Citrus to Mint.
9. Which term is used to describe the moment when an astronomical body is obscured by another body passing between it and the person viewing it?

Answer: Eclipse

Eclipse is a Wrigley product that first appeared in 1999 and was their first pellet gum as opposed to the traditional sticks of gum.

Although we tend to think of lunar and solar eclipses, in 2006 the Cassini-Huygens mission sent back images of Saturn's moons in which Rhea was eclipsed by Dione.
10. Which 2013 DreamWorks movie starred Ryan Reynolds as the voice of a snail who dreams of being the world's fastest?

Answer: Turbo

This movie also starred Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Giamatti and the wonderful Snoop Dogg as a snail named Smoove Move. Did Turbo achieve his dream? I'm not saying, you'll have to watch the movie.

Turbo gum was a Turkish brand which ceased production in 2007, the inner wrappers of which all featured various vehicles and became sought after by collectors. Some of the rarer wrappers can be seen for sale in 2018 for prices approaching £10. For a gum wrapper!
