The year 2002 also saw two UK Royal funerals (Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother). The first non-stop solo balloon journey was made by Steve Fossett, starting and finishing in Australia. This was, in fact, the first non-stop round the world flight of any kind.

"The Time Machine" was first published in 1895 by H.G. Wells (Q2) as a work of Science Fiction (Q4). It was both written and set in the Victorian Era (Q6). In 1960 (Q8) it was made into a feature film, and was re-made in 2002 (Q1) starring Guy Pearce (Q3) as the time traveller and Jeremy Irons (Q5) as one of the evolved creatures (Morlocks) he meets in the distant future (Q7).

He also shares a romance with a Morlock named Weena (Q9). The 2002 film was directed by Simon Wells, the great grandson of the book's author.
