Armenia is one of the three nations completely in the Caucasus Mountains, the other two are Georgia and Azerbaijan. The Ural Mountains separate Europe from Asia, the Himalayas are in China, Nepal and India and the Swiss Alps are in Central Europe.

Answer: Christianity

Armenia officially converted in 301 AD. Most Armenians are Apostolic. (Orthodox) Protestants and Catholics make up the rest of Armenian Christians.
3. What is the largest city in Armenia?

Answer: Yerevan

Yerevan is also the capital city in Armenia. There are about 1,000,000 people living there.
4. Which country is closest in size to Armenia?

Answer: Nepal

All of these nations are way bigger than Armenia. Armenia is ranked 141 in area at 29,800 sq kilometers. Zimbabwe is ranked 59th with 390,580 sq km. India's 7th at 3,165,609. Brazil is 5th at 8,511,957. Nepal is ranked 92nd and has an area of 147,181.
5. When is the Armenian independence day from Turkey?

Answer: May 28, 1918

This formed the Democratic Republic of Armenia, however it was to fall under Soviet rule in 1921. September 21, 1991 is independence day from the Soviets.
6. There are more letters in the Armenian alphabet than the English alphabet.

Answer: True

There were 36 letters in the Armenian alphabet until the seventeenth century, when additional letters were added. Some sources state there are 38 letters, some say 39 letters.
7. How many nations border Armenia?

Answer: 4

Armenia borders Georgia, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. The latter two have put a land blockade on the nation. This means Armenia must travel through Georgia in order to trade.
8. What is the capital of Nagorno Karabakh?

Answer: Stepanakert

In 1988-1992 Armenia and Azerbaijan fought over control of this area. The area technically belongs to Azerbaijan but is politically and culturally tied to Armenia. Fizuli and Baku are in Azerbaijan. Poti is in Georgia.
9. What empire never controlled Armenia?

Answer: Chinese

The Byzantines controlled Armenia from 591-1071 AD.
The Persians controlled Armenia off and on from c. 400 BC-428 AD.
The Ottomans controlled Armenia from 1524-1918 AD.
10. What was the city of Vanadzor called under Soviet rule?

Answer: Kirovakan

The name 'Vanadzor' was reinstated in 1991 when Armenia gained independence. Leninakan was Gyumri's Soviet name. Stalingrad was in Russia and I just made up Brezhnevabad.
