1. A festival is held every August in Barrie by the lakefront. What is it called?

Answer: Kempenfest

The festival is called Kempenfest because it is located on Kempenfelt Bay. The festival attracts more than three hundred thousand visitors each year. Many vendors sell arts and crafts during the festival, and there are usually many sales in local shops.
2. What is the name of the lake that Barrie is situated on?

Answer: Lake Simcoe

Lake Simcoe is Ontario's fourth largest lake. At the north end, Lake Simcoe connects to Lake Couchiching in the north end, and it contains Cook's Bay to the south as well as Kempenfelt Bay. The northern shore of the lake is home to thousands of cottages, and it is a very popular vacation spot.
3. If you're on the same street as the Kozlov Center, Georgian Mall, and Bayfield Mall, what street are you on?

Answer: Bayfield Street

The Kozlov Center, Georgian Mall, and Bayfield Mall are all large shopping centers in north Barrie. Two of the malls even contain movie theatres, and they're only a short drive from the lake.

Barrie became a town in 1853, and it celebrated its sesquicentennial in 2003. Barrie is now one of the fastest growing cities in Canada.

Answer: Hardwood Hills

Hardwood Hills is a short drive up the highway from Barrie and contained more than fifty miles of trails. I also hosts the Twenty-four Hours of Adrenaline race during the summer.

Answer: Spiritcatcher

The Spirit Catcher looks over Kempenfelt Bay and sometimes its wings actually sway in the breeze. It was originally created for Expo '86 in Vancouver, but Barrie purchased it. It's one of those things you'll always see in a Barrie, Ontario postcard. :)
7. Every February, a festival occurs on Barrie's frozen lake. What's it called?

Answer: Winterfest

Usually, the festival contains snow and ice sculptures, dog sleds, ice fishing, polar bear dips, and other fun winter activities.

Answer: Barrie Sadlon Arena

Not only do the Barrie Colts play at the complex, but usually, famous bands and singers perform in the arena. Sometimes, even figure skating and other sports or festivals occur there too.

Answer: Dunlop Street

On Dunlop Street, you can get a clear view of Lake Simcoe and you can shop at many of the unique gift shops. There's even a brewery on this street!

Answer: True

Barrie is approximately ninety kilometres north of Toronto, so you only need to drive about forty-five minutes on Highway 400 to travel back and forth. Many Torontonians own cottages in Barrie because of the wilderness and the proximity to the Canadian Shield.
