2. By 06.40 (ten minutes after H-Hour) how many officers were left in A Company, 116th Regiment?

Answer: 1

Company A was part of the first wave. H-Hour was 06.30. By 06.40 only Lt. E. Ray Nance had survived the onslaught out of the officers, and he had already been hit in the heel and the belly. The following day, only eight of them were ready for duty.

5. What ship was Gen. Omar Bradley on as a forward observer?

Answer: Augusta

6. Which Company got up the bluff at Verville first?

9. Who said, "There are only two kinds of people on this beach: The dead and those about to die. So let's get the hell out of here!"?

Answer: George Taylor

Colonel George Taylor, the forty seven year old commander of the 16th regiment, made it to the seawall and said to the officers, "If we're going to die, let's die up there." He was another "Norman Cota", an older officer inspiring the young men to take the beach.
10. Lieutenant Spalding of E Company, 16th Regiment, took what point?

Answer: WN 64

After a two hour long battle, his small group of three men effectively neutralized the point in mid morning, taking twenty one prisoners and taking it just in time to prevent WN 64 from engaging the fresh landings occuring below.
