2. At the Battle of Franklin in November 1864, which of the following CSA generals did *not* lose his life?

Answer: Earl Van Dorn

Gen. Van Dorn was assassinated at his headquaters in May, 1863. Six CSA generals were killed at Franklin: Cleburne, Strahl, Gist, Adams, Granbury; Carter was mortally wounded and died later.

Answer: Hancock

His neat attire was a trademark of Hancock. He distinguished himself from the Gettysburg campaign to the Petersburg campaign.
4. We know the bridge at Antietam was named after General Burnside's attack across the bridge. What was the real name of the bridge prior to the battle?

Answer: Rohrbach Bridge

It was built in the 1830's and named for a farm nearby. General Burnside sent his troops to get across the bridge. After the battle he learned that the creek was shallow and his men could have waded through it. It was a big mistake. The bridge was only 12ft wide, which "bunched" his troops so that the CSA snipers on the hill overlooking it could fire on them.

On March 25, 1865 General Lee made an attempt to repulse General Grant's army at Petersburg with an assault of Fort Stedman. His troops were able to capture the fort but, were unable to hold it against a Union counterattack.

Answer: Custer

All these names were given to General George Custer.
9. This CSA General who had participated in Pickett's Charge was mortally wounded during a reaguard action on July 13, 1863. Who was it?

General Pettigrew was wounded at Falling Waters, Virginia during the retreat from Gettysburg and died four days later.

Answer: 5th Michigan Cavalry

He was a sharpshooter in the 5th michigan Cavalry in May 1864. He was killed at the battle of Haw's Shop, Virginia about two weeks later.
