Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp was born on March 19th, 1848, to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. He was named after his father's commanding officer in the Mexican-American War, Captain Wyatt Berry Stapp
2. What was one of Wyatt's first jobs?

Answer: teamster

Wyatt worked as a teamster hauling supplies during the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad in California. He also worked as a miner, buffalo hunter, farmer and gambler during his 80 years.
3. What famous lawman worked with him on the Dodge City police force?

Answer: Bat Masterson

William Barclay Masterson was offered the job by then Assistant City marshal, Wyatt Earp. Masterson brothers Jim and Ed also worked as lawmen in Dodge City. Ed was killed in Dodge trying to disarm a drunken cowboy on April 9, 1878.
4. According to Wyatt Earp, where did he meet John "Doc" Holiday?

Answer: Fort Griffin, Texas

The two met during the winter of 1877-78 and remained friends until Doc's death from tuberculosis in 1887. At the time of Doc's death Wyatt wrote, "I found him a loyal friend and good company."
