Answer: Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin

Buzz Aldrin was the commander of the Lunar Module that made the trip to the moon from the orbiting Command Module (piloted by Collins). He followed Armstrong down the ladder to be a close second.
2. Who was the second man to admire the view from the summit of Mt Everest?

Answer: Tenzing Norgay

Part of a British expedition, Tenzing was teamed with New Zealander Edmund Hilary for an attack on the summit. Tenzing said: "For in my heart, I needed to go. The pull of Everest was stronger for me than any force on earth." Tenzing Norgay died in 1986.

The Americans were very cautious and would not compromise the safety of their astronauts. After successful Gemini and early Apollo launches they did win a major race, putting man on the moon.

The final was played between Brazil and Italy. At 2-2, the game went to a penalty shoot out with Brazil being the final victors 3-2.

In 1907 Shackelton got close and turned back due to low supplies. In 1909 Douglas Mawson reached the magnetic South Pole. 1911 Norwegian Roald Amundsen led 5 men to the pole for the first time. Robert Falcon Scotts 1912 British expedition reached the pole to discover they had been beaten by Amundsen. Sadly, all 5 men perished during their return from the pole, 11 km's short of the supply depot.
