The Romans called Heracles 'Hercules'.

Eileithyia is the goddess of childbirth, and she sat outside Alcmene's bedroom with crossed fingers to prevent Heracles's birth. Galanthis tricked her by shouting that the child was born. Eileithyia was so startled she forgot the charm and Alcmene delivered Heracles.
