Chade first made himself known to Fitz by opening a secret passage leading from his own bedroom to Chade's hidden quarters, deep within the walls of the castle. Chade is the unknown half brother of King Shrewd.

"Liveship Traders" SPOILER WARNING: I have often wondered why the fool chose this particular name for his beautiful horse. As I'm sure you know, this is also the name of a character from the "Liveship Traders" series, where the fool played another 'character' and knew Malta to be a spoiled, spiteful child. Sure she turned out all right but personally I would have preferred the name Althea!

Answer: Chivalry, Verity, Regal

The two eldest boys were the sons of King Shrewd and his first wife. The youngest, Regal, was a result of his second marrage to Queen Desire. She was from Tradford nobility and believed her own son's blood to be more 'regal' then his two elder siblings. From this, she poisoned his mind from a young age to believe himself better than his brothers, and more deserving of the throne.

The future ruler of the mountain kingdom after the murder of her brother Rurisk. Regal first tried to steal this Queen's hand from his brother while he was meant to be courting her for him. He failed and the two were married while Verity attended via the skill.
