Kurda Smahlt wants to make maps of Vampire Mountain, so that guests can have a guide, and know where they would be going, instead of vampires having to waste their time and show other vampires where everything is.

Seba Nile put cobwebs on Darren's cuts from the Trial he had recently completed, to stop the itching. It cured the itching, but Darren couldn't bathe for a few nights afterward.
