1. In 'Romance in the Roaring Forties' the narrator suggests only a rank sucker would take more than one peek at Dave the Dude's doll. Who was Dave's doll?

Answer: Billy Perry

Missouri Martin runs the Sixteen Hundred Club, Lola Sapola is the strong woman in the acrobatic troupe 'The Flying Sapolas' and Dream Street Rose belongs in another story altogether.
2. In 'Old Em's Kentucky Home' Itchky Ironhat buys a truck for $60 to take Old Em (Itchky's horse) back to the Kentucky Bluegrass Country. What is wrong with the truck for this purpose?

Answer: It is too short

They get round this problem by pushing Old Em's front legs back and her back legs forward. She also has to learn to lean as they go round corners.
3. In the story 'A Nice Price', Sam the Gonoph wants to fix a sporting event between Harvard and Yale so that Harvard win. What is the event?

Answer: A boat race

Sam accidentally achieves his object by chasing his enemy, Society Max, into the river where his head is hit by one of the Yale rowers, causing Harvard to get the advantage.

Answer: He has huge feet

Dave the Dude says he uses violin cases for shoes. The narrator says that this can't be true unless it is a very large violin such as a cello.

The male lead in the story is a guy called Fat-fat. He gets in trouble with Cleo the Pretty for thinking Cleo the Calf's eyes remind him of Cleo the Pretty's eyes.

Answer: He isn't a judge at all

The narrator tells us Judge Goldfobber is not a judge and never was a judge and is 100 to 1 against ever being a judge but it pleases him to be called "Judge".

Answer: Cheese blintzes

The narrator knows Maurice is not a ghost as ghosts don't eat cheese blintzes.
8. In 'The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown', Miss Sarah Brown bets a guy called The Sky to win his soul. What amount does she stake against his soul?

Answer: $2

Miss Sarah Brown points out that this amount is far more than The Sky's soul is worth.
9. In the story 'Barbeque' we learn that High-C Homer had wanted to be a professional singer. What prevented him?

Answer: A vegetable

To be exact, a turnip. Thrown by a member of the audience at the Old Colonial theatre, it hits Homer in the throat and ruins his voice.
10. Which of these is not a collection of stories by Runyon?

Answer: Sense of Humour

'Sense of Humour' is a story in the collection called 'Furthermore'.
